Just got off the phone with the shop... The owner was not in and neither was the manager.  I gave the guy a description of the jeeps and he said he wanted to see pictures of them.  He said according to the description I gave him of the silver jeep, it belongs to a good customer who is also a lawyer.  very interesting to me.  He appologized and agreed with me that it was wrong for them to do what they did, and also said he would have the owner of the shop call me.  We'll see if he does. here is a copy of the email I sent them with a link to the picture...

Here is a link to the picture of two of the jeeps. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4028/4700703946_6451e2ff62_o.jpg
Not sure who the owners are, or who the guy was that had the nerve to pull a knife and threaten to start "Shanking people" if they didn't get out of the way.  It was completely unnecessary and disrespectful.  It would greatly be appreciated if you had a talk with the customers and gave them a heads up that there is a lot of people the 4 wheel and a lot of people watching and looking for excuses to close trails.  Thanks

I'm just hoping now that the owner calls so that I can make sure he talks to the customers and sets them straight.  It sucks for the shop to have customers advertising their sticker and acting the way they do.

The BBB lists a guy named Scott Arentz as the president of Extreme Gear Off Road, Inc.   It has a different location and different local phone humber but the toll free number is the same.

I thought all caps and 20 exclamation points denoted a raised tone and so therefore not calm, but I am not an authority on chat inflection. I was trying to learn more about a topic that I'm interested in and can stand to learn more about from people of like interests. Sorry to bogart someone else's thread.
Topic over on my side.

My thoughts exactly. If I saw someone acting like that and sporting Marlin Crawler stickers, you can bet your :moon: that it wouldn't sit well with me. I'd talk to them personally (in some cases) about how they are making MARLIN look bad by acting the way they do. If it's a case in which I wouldn't talk to them personally, I'd get license plates and names and photos of the rigs and send them Marlinward.

So that's just an example... I couldn't imagine being that shop owner and having someone think that it was HIS businesspeople that were acting so immature and ridiculous on the trail. I'd say something if I were him... that's just bad business for him if he didn't.

Never did hear back from the shop or the owner.  I called and sent an email.  Its not worth my time to push it any further.  Not returning a phone call or email tells me all I need to know.  So thats where I'm leaving it at.

Reading that really makes me wish I was there.  Something like that would of happened to me :pokinit: would of gotten really ugly.  That's when a high lift handle comes in real handy.

Edit: I live really close to Rancho Cordova and would love to help.  I could go down there personally if you want.

just called the shop again, i know i said i wouldn't, couldn't help myself.  the owner answered suprisingly.  said he talked to the two guys that owned the two jeeps in the pictures and they said it wasn't them, it was another group that came up behind them.  supposedly the guys said they were trying to help out and were getting blown off.  interesting because when we pulled up the guys were sitting around drinking and poking fun and i told the owner that.  he said that doesn't sound like his customers that were there and it was guys from a different group.  anyways,  i'm over it.  i know who the guys are and who to look out for.  no blame on the shop, it sucks but they can't control their customers.

Regardless of whether or not they admit what they did they will definitely think twice about acting stupid with a shop's stickers plastered all over their trucks.

Read the thread, thought is pretty messed up they pulled out a knife. I think its crazy that there was talk of a knife, then like 10 people jumped up talkin about guns. I mean, I can see having a right to protect yourself, but people actually feel the need to walk around with a loaded gun all the time? To each his own i guess, but Im one of the people that is kinda anti guns, unless they are used for hunting. If I ever feel in my great state that I need a gun on me to feel safe, well then guys, its time for me to get the hell out. I know some pople do it because they CAN, but there are tons of things we CAN do, but we dont. Either way, still completely out of line for someone to pull a knife in a situation like that.

Posting a picture of a rig with a sticker on it is not identification. Next time get a picture of the plates. I know Scott Arentz and he is a stand up guy. If there was an incident with a rig with a Marlin sticker on it, we all know that Marlin would never condone bad behaviour. It is not the fault or concern of the owner of a shop what his customers do.

Might as well as go after the owner of a gun store for a murder. Does not make sense.

Thats a crazy story man.. Never had anything like that happen to me here in az, but it never hurts to be prepared. Its always best to talk your way out of the situation, ID the guy and vehicle(s), then report them once you hit the HWY. Of course, if they are serious about it or I was with family/kids -That person and any person associated to the threat would die a very disrespectful death.

A word though, most people who are serious about hurting someone dont make threats, they just do it. The threat is to try and scare/control you with fear. 100% of threats ive recieved have gone without incident because the person making them was just trying to get a response. My response is a dead stare and a defensive position. Dont even listen to what the guy making the threat has to say, he's just trying to make you mad and control the situation. Dont listen to what he says, listen for "im gonna" or "I will" and watch body language.

My father always taught me never show a weapon unless youre going to use it, and never threaten anyone no matter how much you feel threatend. Actions are always louder than words, and gunshots silence those actions reel fast like. Make sure you stay on the quiet side once talking has failed.

I just think people are inconsiderate to others nowadays. I got a flat last night at 11pm. 2 lane road, and no one slowed down. I had big rigs going by me at 60 with 2 feet of room.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

A bunch of my buddies and I were talking about this last night. It seems to us no one gives a damn about anyone else but themselves anymore. There is no honor, morals, dignity, respect, etc anymore.

I remember a couple months ago the battery in my Supra died. Luckily, a woman in the car directly next to me was chatting away on her cell phone sitting in her car. I approached her and asked if she could spare a minute or two to jump me. I told her she didn't even have to get out of the car, I would do everything. She let out a huge sigh, rolled her eyes, and told her friend on the phone "Hold on, some guy needs a jump start or something..." as I started to grab my cables, I hear her mutter something under her breath and then she yells out "Sorry I am a in a huge hurry" as she turns on her car, and slowly drives away, continuing to chat on her phone. Even though she had been sitting there for at least a while before I came out of the store. It took me 3 or 4 more tries before I was able to find someone willing to just pull their car next to mine so I could jump start it.

People suck. Despite how many people I have taken time out of my day to help, be it a trail fix, flat tire, winching a stuck motorist, whatever... 4 out of 5 people can't be bothered whenever I rarely find myself in a situation where I need help.

I stick with the motto "Do unto others..." but I'm afraid very few people these days practice that kind of mentallity.

So true!  3 or 4 weeks ago I saw people going around a mini van at a stop light ahead as I pulled off the freeway riding home from work.  My first thought was "why the hell are they just going around?", so I pulled up on the shoulder next to her and asked if she needed help pushing it out of the way.  She reacted as if the thought had never crossed her mind, like she was just intending to stay there till aaa came, then said we could try.  At the end of a long hard day of working, pushing that van 40 feet backward was the easiest thing I'd done all day, despite me being in a helmet, jacket and long pants in the hot sun.

I was on my way home from the bank after work a few weeks before that and noticed a 4runner with the hood up in a parking lot across the street.  It was raining pretty good and I saw the dude had 2 younger boys with him, so I headed over and asked if he needed help.  He said he'd had his alternator out twice and had it bench tested, but said each time they told him it was charging.  The symptoms sounded identical to when my alt went in my 91, charge light would go on and off, depending on if the brushes could catch contact for long enough.  We checked over a bunch of connectors and stuff and found no other issues, so he said he might as well just bite the bullet and buy a kragen alternator.  Since he was looking at staying the night anyway, I told him where toyota was, described how to swap out the brushes himself, and told him he'd be miles ahead to hit up toyota first thing in the morning and replace the brushes and have a toyota alternator for under $20, which he decided to do.
