As for me, I am in 100% support of the law. I tried to vote but it looks like the poll has been deleted. My wife is from Japan and we got all the paper work done and she now has a great job working for Pricewaterhouse Coopers, paying her taxes, and enjoying the American life. It really wasn't that hard to do. The longest we had to wait was about 4 months for a letter in the mail, and it only cost about $300 or so as I remember. It wasn't bad at all and I don't understand why undocumented people don't just man up, do the paper work, and stop living life with that monkey on their back (fear of the law). I understand $300 is a lot of money, but the benefits of being able to enjoy life far outweigh that in my opinion.

Yeah, that must be it then.

In my opinion it is not fair that I work hard and pay all taxes while others get similar benefits without contributing.

Ahh I see your point. So I will clarify that I do not mind immigrants here, I just wish they would consider becoming legal. At this same time, I also feel a lack of Governmental organization and control at immigration also makes it difficult for illegals to become legal. Sadly, I also believe this is done on purpose for some other political gain.

I am relaxed, glad my post got flagged.  Guess you cant be honest here. I was giving him a hard time about the hub caps. But he did say americans and these and that. I simple said, dont put words in peoples mouths, not all americans are that way.

yes I was trying to yank his chain with the hubcap comment, flag it i dont care.
But my first response was my opinion, if you cant handle that then change the rules of when you sign up for the board stating we will only see your opinion and not think.

Exactly, save for the facts that I get no benefits while I pay for others and can't keep up on my own bills.

I lived in AZ., my job there pretty much required hiring imigrant workers. Some legal, some not. I had an interesting conversation with a not legal girl, and it was enlightining. First she was brought here by her parents at age 2, she's never been back so she'd have a very rough time if she was deported. She can't even really speak spanish since she went to school here and her parents demanded that everyone spoke english at home.  She has no U.S. documentation, and if found would be sent back to Mexico and would become homeless with nowhere to go.

Personally I feel there should be a worker program that allows imigrants to come here and work, we need them as much as they need us. I support AZ's law and wish that the feds would have done their job in the 1st place and AZ would not had to have done what they felt was required to protect the state and its people. This is what it boils down to, I hope it doesn't come to profiling since there are legal imigrants and citizens that will suffer. I also hope that they make some of those wayward Canadian's that go there and then stay, they are just as illegal.

Potentially bad situation for her... unfortunately she was put in that situation by her parents, who may have thought they were doing the best thing for her (and for themselves).

I'll admit knowing little of this, but doesn't such a program already exist (green card)? I worked several years with a Canadian who is employed by a large corporation in the US -- he has a green card and is still a Canadian citizen.

Then the Government should focus on improving the process of accepting new citizens. They are already here with on going lives, why not take advantage of all the income taxes the gov. is missing out on. At least in this case, if the process was easier/quicker turn around/cheaper, then if someone does get deported, at least we are doing our part in trying to welcome ppl in with an improved immigrations system instead of discouraging people from even becoming legal.

Obviously it's a complicated issue, but you are right in that if the Gov. was doing its part all along, things wouldn't be so messed up. But, again, I can see ways how this could have been done on purpose (making the economy/welfare of the nation suffer on purpose).

I am 100% in favor of this law. All it does is mirror the federal law that is already in place (I have read both). If the Feds would get off their ass and do the job that we pay them for it would not have even been needed. I will agree that illegals take many jobs that Americans do not want to do. That doesn't mean that they can't become legal, taxpaying citizens first. Those jobs will still be there. They feel like this nation owes them something for some reason (this is not my opinion, it was written on signs they were holding at a rally). In my opinion (sorry for this BigMike), all illegals, regardless of situation should be deported. Yes it will be unfair to some because this is all they know, but they have every opportunity to pursue legalization in the correct manner. If any of this offends anyone then i'm sorry, it's my honest opinion.

BTW. The government (at least a good part of it) wants our economy/welfare of our nation to suffer. The worse that things get the more that we have to rely on the government. This effectively makes them stronger and us the people weaker. You should really read Marx sometime, the similarites will scare you.

No a worker program is different than a green card, with a green card you can stay permenantly and eventually get citizenship a worker program requires that you return to your home country.

Thanks for the clarification  and I have to agree with you... since it's clear that the problem is not going away, there should be some sort of transient worker program to allow temporary laborers legal entry. Of course, you then have the problem of tracking them to ensure they return home when they are supposed to... There is nothing simple about any of this.

Ah, so a system does exist to allow for legal entry! Good to hear, and it makes perfect sense. It also makes it that much harder for me to understand why so many choose to enter illegally -- I guess they come for reasons other than work or visitation.

Yes. A friend of mine immigrated here from Jordan 8 years ago with her green card. She is just now getting her full citizenship. If she had to work 8 years with a green card to become a legal citizen, so can everyone else that wants to.

I was born in Saudi Arabia and they don't let non-Arabs become citizens, even if you are born there. So I was SOL on Saudi citizenship cuz I'm white as a ghost. An illegal immigrant to the USA should be happy we are such a compasionate country. Most countrys treat their illegal immigrants far worse than allowing them to stay, work, not pay taxes, drive without a license, etc. Look at how Mexico treats their southern border immigrants. I'd rather be a Mexican crossing the US border than a central/south american immigrant trying to cross into Mexico. Go to the middle east... it just gets worse.

This is Governor Jan Brewer's response to the Phoenix Suns protest of the new immigration law.

"What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were sneaking into games without paying? What if they had a good idea who the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and security personnel were not allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus non-paying attendees couldn't be ejected. Furthermore, what if Suns' ownership was expected to provide those who sneaked in with complimentary eats and drink? And what if, on those days when a gate-crasher became ill or injured, the Suns had to provide free medical care and shelter?"

.........and that is essentially the difference between our two major, conflicting ideologies today. One (Obama) is purely emotionalism and idealism mixed together with no regard to consequences. The other is common sense (brewer statement above), spend what you have, be responsible for your actions.

this is the positive feedback i wanted to get.  i agree stocker, it should be done legally cause no one likes the feeling of always having to look over there shoulder.   the sad thing is most immigrants are friends with immigrants who wouldn't know how to go about the process and that is an issue that needs the attention.
I disagree with you there.  They're plenty of intelligent Hispanic people, like yourself, that can (should) be willing to help.  If these intelligent Hispanic people are NOT willing to help those others that don't know how to get LEGAL,  then those people shouldn't be concerned if the illegal's get sent back to where they came from.
