What parts are interchangable?
« on: Apr 27, 2010, 11:45:59 AM »
Right now Im trying to get my gears and new front pinion housing square away.

However, Im having a little trouble finding complete V-6 housing so I can use the carrier and then use the V-6 housing to set up a spare if/when my rear breaks.

My question is, what can I take from my stock 4cly housing that would fit the hi-pinion housing? Mainly the flange that connects to the driveshaft and holds the pinion is my main item. I have a rebuild kit for bearing and will probably get a grizzly or aussie locker so a carrier isnt a problem.

you wont be able to use the gears, bearings or carrier from the 4cyl but you can use the pinion flange

Sweet thanks for the reply.

Pinion flange is just about all I need.

Ill just have to save up a little for a full carrier locker.

Toyota wanted over $1200 for an open carrier.

So lets see, ~$500 for Locker or $1200 for stock open carrier. Hmm...

Already have 5.29's for the hi-pinion along with reuild kit so I should be all set now aside from lockers.  :wink2:
