Question about 22R head rebuild
« on: Apr 04, 2010, 07:14:17 PM »
I was at the shop that rebuilt my head to see how it was going and I am concerned about the valve guides. I got the LC stage II cam and there pro spring kit with guides, retainers, springs and seals. The shop never used the bronze valve guides that LC provided with the kit. They said that they had to be reamed and that they didn't have the tool to do it and would need to buy one. The LC valve guides are shorter than the stock guides so that they will work with the higher lift cam.

The shop said it would be cheeper to just cut down the stock guides that to buy the tool to ream the bronze guides. The other thing that
concerned me is that LC sells valve seals for stock guides and for there bronze pro guides. They used the seals from the pro kit on my stock guides.  I guess my question is this. Will I have any issues with the cut down stock guides and will the seals from the pro kit fit properly on my stock guides ? I don't know what the difference is between the LC pro valve seals and the LC stock ones. :dunno:
