My new Toyota motorhome
« on: Mar 30, 2010, 06:15:58 AM »
Bought this yesterday. 87 21' Sunraider. 55k miles. 22re auto with full floater. Can't be in a hurry, but you shouldn't be when you're on vacation anyways.
Anyone else got a similar one?

I love those little things! What MPG does it get anyway?

All my research and according to the previous owner, 14 to 17 mpg. Worth the tradeoff of being gutless in my book. If I was getting 6 or 7 in a domestic class c, it would probably affect my disposition while on vacation.

Lets see some pictures of the interior.

I allways wanted to know what a little toy camper like that looks like inside.

Will do. Pretty good use of space. Sleeps 4 as long as you like your partner.
Does 65 on flat ground so good enough for me.

Nope. It has a real toilet and separate shower.

I found this today while doing some research.
18' 1986 Sunraider 22rte turbo, a340 auto, and an extra cab to boot.
The cool thing about Sunraiders is that there are no roof seams. The seam you see running along the side about halfway up is where the 2 sections of fiberglass come together, so less likely to leak.

i have seen one with a with a sas looked badass.  i think the best thing to do would be 3.4 tacoma v6 with a sas on 33s tires, with 4.88s gears that would be sick
Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

They don't make good tow vehicles but they are awesome little campers and very stingy on gas.

I sure hope it gets good mileage. All i've read says mid teens. We plan to drive it to So Cal once a year or so. At 15mpg it would be about $600 bucks there and back. That's bad enough.

my dad used to have one when I was a kid. I remember riding in the top of the thing looking out the window driving down the road. We took it to California and back, my dad was driving down the road and he heard a loud thud. That was me falling from that stupid bed above the cab while sleeping. They claim I haven't been right since then

All waxed up, cleaned old sealant from around windows, cleaning interior. Gonna twist the torsion bars up cause it's riding on the stops. Been driving it to work just to make sure all is well before any real excursions. Digging it so far. The 22re with auto isn't as offensively underpowered as I thought it would be.
