Have you measured the trans to see how it fits in ur truck.  I was gonna put a W56 in my 1st gen and the transmission shifter was set back so far that my tcase shifters were hitting my seat.  So far its looking sweet. Keep it up.  I too wish I had a full blown shop to work at  :king:

well got started on the engine today another slow day at work dont know if thats a good or bad thing yet.

pulled the valve cover and found the cam in good condition so decided to pull the timing cover

dont forget to get this hidden sucker out i hear its very easy to forget. not htis time sucker
pulled the head all the pistons in good shape  guess the guy i got it from said it would over heat found out that the timing cover had hole rubbed in it from the chain haha good thing i got an extra

all i need now is to clean it all up and gorder a gasket set. oh yeah traded the efi stuff for good old carb stuff keep it easy for me i guess

EFI works better out on the trail.  But definately a lot more work to intstall EFI on a truck that came carbed.

Nice work, reminds me of my old truck.  I missed that stupid bolt hidden in the oil and mine wore a hole through the timing cover too.  Good times.  Lookin good

um well got started on pulling the head aprt and cleaning everything up.

cleaned up the head where it meets the block for the new head gasket.

well the head was out decided to pull the valves and install new vavle guide seals and lap the valves.

dont know if any of you know how to lap vavles but decided to show a little trick i use. you find some hose that fits end of the valve and a drill bit. in my opinion it works way faster then the old hand tool. a little tip find a pressure regulator so the drill does not go to fast needs to be slooow.

heres a pick of the intake(the bigger one) lapped and the exhaust not cleaned up really nice. lapping is just a cheap way of doing a valve job lol. guess it goes with the free truck.

got tired of looking at the busted out back window and :pokinit: blowing into it so luckly the truck came with a sliding back window in the bed. and decided to stick it in for now to keep all the :pokinit: out and small woodland creatures out. it was pretty easy pops in like a gromet for a hole just use alot of silcone spray and a flat tip screw driver she popped right in.

I hope you plan on using a factory toyota head gasket since you're going to all this trouble!  No sense in throwing junk in there and risking the inevitable  ;)

Last time I lapped in my valves I tried the drill trick but found they cut in faster doing it by hand, which sucked for me cause I'm pretty lazy and was looking for the quicker way.

I run the Vatozone clutch. I have a warranty on it to so we can snag another 1 for free if you want.  But, I have heard that the Downey clutch is the shiznit.  I have never had an issue with mine, but to each their own.
