Twin Stick Question?
« on: Dec 06, 2004, 08:46:02 PM »
Can I set up my t-case to run the twin stick when I have it apart but still use  a regular shifter until I get 1 or will it cause issues being the j pattern and all I don't know how removing the pins would effect the shift pattern?

Yup, perfectly fine. In fact this is what I did with mine. I built it with the interlock pin out, and then about 2 weeks later I put the twin stick in. Just make sure you dont, like, run straight into a tree or a very large wall :gap:

wont effect the shift pattern unless you grind the rails(single stick 2 low mod)

if you grind the stop on the side of the low/high fork (passenger's side) while leaving enough left so that the shifter does not fall out of the gate, then you could engage 2low with just the single stock lever. However the lever will have alot of room to move around and will go from side to side all of the time because now the gate is double wide in both 2hi and 2low.

Hey wait, I was just thinking about it. If you wanted to go 2low with one lever, then you will have to pass through neutral to get into low. So you will have to completely grind out the stop and allow the shifter to fall completely out of the gate in order to get into 2low. So you would have to move the shifter in and out of gates, and you might even loose the gate and have to pull it out and re-gate it. :ack:

suzukis have the same type of setup as us...here's a link that explains a bit of what i'm getting at:

http://www.off-road.com/suzuki/samurai/2wdlow.htm

you're right mike, i hear it bounces around everywhere and you have to do some searching for gears.  however they say in the article that it's a pretty good anti-theft device
