Ok kids I drove the 90 up the grade and it did damned well.  4th @ 55 mph.  None too shabby I think.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

If anyone is familiar with HWY 168 up to Shaver Lake here in Central Cali, I can cruise the 4-lanes in 4th at 75 MPH at under 50% throttle. I can pull fifth at 78+, but I chose to shift back into 4th because the speed limit is just 55 and I dont want to toast my W56 :flamer:

35s and 5.29s :bling:

Oh, I almost forgot the most important part, 4th at 75 is right at 3,500rpm and 5th at almost 80 is about 3,200rpm.

You guys are pulling 4th gear at < 60 mph? What you are using, like 5.71s and 33" ? :ack:

mike   dude,  theyre useing stock toy R motors :smack:  they cant hang with a 3RZ or a extremely  modified 20/22 hybrid

the celica motor i have in right now is so dang pathetic, :thud:  i went up jack mountain yesterday,  first time with the celica motor,   theres a 20mph curve at the bottom then the pull to the top,  the Hybrid would sprint to the top in 4th and could easily pass another car without having to drop to 3rd,   the celica,,   holy crap  i thought i would have to get out and push,  :smack:  after the curve i had to spin up to 4000 in 2nd the shift to 3rd and struggled to the top  loosing rpms the entire way,  till having to shift back to 2nd  just befor the top

now im guessing the tired little 20R  is making  80 hp   my hybrid was easily twice that if not more,       probably closer to 180+hp,

I used to have a 22R that I never drove, does that count :dunno:

Hey I know what this thread is for, hence I've not posted in it for nearly a month, but I finally have some tires that could challenge my setup so I wanted to post some results.

To bad your hybrid died :rivers: You gotta get it running again!! :_order: :_order: :_order:

working on it  man,  i just got back to work but i have done all the research for the parts i want at the best prices,

heres whats going in,

22 block bored to 93.5mm for hypereuretic pistons, NOTCHED :smack: chrome rings, balanced crank and rods, oem 22R valves and valve seats mounted in ported 20R head, cheap and much bigger than 20R valves,  actually bored the exhaust ports :bud: ,  20R timing kit, pulling a Stage II LcEng. race cam, LcEng. dual valve springs(up to 8500 with these) thinking about a underdrive pully so water pump doesnt blow hose clamps at high rpm,  actually had this problem before :smack:  if the old hybrid made 170 ponies  this one will be over 200

first you need to do a compression check if you dont have 150 psi  in each cyl you'll need to bore your block, a 22R 80- 84,  but since you have a 81 im guessing its a 22,  so get it bored, get pistons from your machine shop,  i like KB9059H
go to a junk yard and find a early celica or pickup and get the head and intake from a 20R,  exhaust is not needed , you already have a header

get your block back,  install pistons,  or you can have the machine shop install them if your not that savvy,  then use a 22R head gasket and and lay it on your block,  you will see water jacket holes between the cylinders  , take a phillips screw driver and punch some holes in your head gasket so you can get coolant flow thru those water jackets to the 20R head,  the 20R head gets better cooling this way,   i always use  laser block headbolts but you might be ok with your oem  headbolts after being torques and retorques 6 or 7 times they stretch
meaning the bolts will hit the bottom of the hole befor it squeezes the gasket tight enough,
oh,  put your 22R cam and rockers on top the 20R head, so you dont need them from the donor truck/ celica

if your cam and rockers are badly worn you can always find  rockers in good shape from wrecked stuff, in junkyards,  cam and rockers should be from the same motor or bought new
