what do you mean use search? on this site? cause i did and nothing came up ??? :help:

Dingman.

I have a few friends that have done this.. I actually have all the parts sitting in my truck waiting to go.

It was about $100 in parts.  Air lines, fittings, regulator (which cost the most), inline oiler, filters,etc..

Yes do a search for it, if not on here, try google, or pirate4x4 etc..
I would help you out but i don't have the parts list..

jreeves85yota

hey thanks for the info buddy  really appreciate it. ill have to check out pirate 4x4.

jreeves85yota

how do ya get turtle points? :headscratch: and a better statis othe rthan dusty trails?

Dingman.

Turtle points don't matter, they are just something people take and give for whatever reason.
As far as the status, you will increase it when you get more posts.

You're going to want to learn to search before going to pirate, cause they'll eat you alive if you don't find such readily available info  ;)

Most of the stuff on Pirate talked about putting Yorks in for OBA.  I'd really be interested in a couple good links on using the stock AC compressor.

I have gathered all the stuff for my Toyota AC compressor OBA setup.  Once I get it all together, I'll take some pics and get a how to thread started  :beerchug:

If your not going to run an air tank that u dont realy need a regulator.

The regulator is cool because when you fill up your tank to say 120 psi it will shut off the pump off instead of letting it keep going until it blows up.  But really u just need to get ur tires to say 35 psi.  Not going to blow ur pump at 35 psi.  Now the problem you are going to run into now is that the air hose will build up pressure when its not filling up a tire, possibly causing damage to you compressor.  Easy fix, just drill a small hole on the inside of the tire inflator (The part that pushes the valve stem down when you put the tire chuck on the tire).  That way there is always some air leaking out.

For my system I got the kit form harbor freight that has an oiler and filter for $20.  Run a line from the oiler into the compressor, then run a like from the compressor to the filter to take the excess oil out.  Then run an air hose line with an air chuck with the hole in it so there isnt excess pressure when compressor is inbetween tires.

Dingman.

I would personally buy the $50 regulator. I actually have one waiting to be installed.

My buddy had his OBA hooked up without his regulator and blew up his ac hose i think.

Just run a pressure switch.  I'm not going to run a tank to start.  Mine's on at 90 psi & off at 120 psi.  Don't have to worry about a regulator or worry about blowing something up.  I also added a pressure release valve (aka pop off valve) that's set to release at 150 psi.

thats really ghetto, out of all the parts you can half ass on an OBA setup, or leave :pokinit: out thats the last past parts youd ever want to leave out. not only will it most likely blow lines off at some time but your constantly having to keep an eye on it. you can get them off a junk air compressor for free of just buy an arb style pressure switch online for 12$. also as far as not running a tank...your gonna want it even more than if you had a tank because you have no time to react. at least with a tank and no pressure switch you can wait a minute without airing up and its not gonna damage anything.

locked 4x4

It dosent blow off air hoses.  Air pressure never builds up in the line because when its not filling up a tire the line is just open and letting air bleed out.  The most pressure that the line will see is when ur filling up the tire to say 35 psi.

locked 4x4

Its the same idea as the air compressors that you plug into the cigerate lighter, just using the ac pump.  I have never seen one of those things blow a line.

never mind, maybe im not making what im trying to say clear. ill keep it simple and say, just use a pressure switch when you build oba.

X2,  I think you can get them at four wheel parts for like $20

86rustbucket

yep 17.99 this is one here, it kicks on at 100 and off at 145  with this switch you can run power tools off the toyota ac pump no problem

yotatough

you cant beat the price!! better than drilling out your inflator

86rustbucket

i think i spent less than 40 bucks

but i had the tank and air hose already, but you can find that junk at a yard sale.

its nice when fixing a popped bead is about as hard as grabbing another beer.

yotatough

yeah I cant wait to be done moving so I can get to installing my york!!
