« on: Feb 11, 2010, 03:52:54 PM »
Can someone give me the correct torque for the 24 mm drain plug and 17 mm filler plug on the 1st generation 4Runner 5 speed manual transmission?

50 ft/lbs seems like an awful lot. I'd guess more in the 20-25 range, but I honestly don't know. You want the aluminum gasket to compress a bit to get a good seal.

just tighten it tight as in what you can do with a 8 or 10 inch ratchet

its not like its a dang headbolt that has to be the same tightness as the ones around it :shake:

Just enough to not fall out and to stop leaking.  I usually go by feel.  You can feel when it stops, and just bump it a little.  That's what I do for all my drain plugs.

It doesn't list those specs in my FSM, but it lists the backup sensor gets torqued to 27 ft lbs.
