I dont know about the 2002 but yes 79-95 3rds you can.

But the title is a wider axle so why are you just asking about the 3rd? Do you mean the housing too?

I'm looking at buying an axle out of 1993 4runner and putting it in my 85 4runner because I want the wider axle but I already have 5.29 gears and a locker in the third member for the 85.

yeah the 3rd member will fit but didn't the 93 4runners have coils for the rear suspension?

Thanks for your help. I bought an axle out of a 93 and am going to put it in tomorrow. Yes it has or had coils but i'm cutting them off.

Yeah i did the same swap. axle is out of a 89 v6 pickup. works great and its stronger
