You might have a problem with gear sets if you still plan on running a 44 front and rear toyota diff. When i had my Jeep i ran 5.38's and my toy has 5.29's. I believe the 44's are heavier than the toy housing, i could be wrong.  :dunno:
My experience with having both 44's and toy diffs with the same size tires, the 44 held up better no broken axles or u joints. The toyota, 2 broken Birfs, both Allpro Profields (old).  I'm currently running the toy housing with longfields and have no issues.  hope that helps you a little.

5.29 and 5.38 are close enough to work just fine

well considering your SASing a tacoma i would go with a waggy 44. not sure whether your keeping the stock transfer case setup or not but the cool think about the 44s are that depending on what year you get you can either get a passenger side or driver side drop. also the wms on many of them is going to be about 62.5 which will fit the Tacoma better as far as looks, and it will be closer to the rear axle width. (that's if you plan on keeping the stock rear axle).

i don't think using a toy axle is the way to go with a setup like this, but as far as strength there about the same depending on what you do to it.

thinks for the replies guys. first is going to be the straight axle then probably a rear axle with gears then eventually dual cases
