better flow, air comes in straight right through the intake ports....

Regular carbs have to come down like

Ive played with Weber side drafts on an 75 Cosworth I4. They work GREAT "for motorcross". They have huge amounts of tune ability. This can be a down side though. Getting each carb/intake to be equal and run correct is an art. Everything on them is changeable so what todo and how to tune can be a large learning curve.

Your performance comes from the fact each cylinder now has its own 45mm Intake, no bends, just straight in the cylinder. I do remember due to the short intake runner, the fuel atomization was somewhat poor. We went up a heat range on the thermostat to help with this.

If I had a 22r I would totally use them, if for nothing else the look awesome!!! And should give you much better performance.

As for fuel. If you keep your foot out of it, and tuned correctly i would think it would be about the same.

As for hill, I have no idea.
If you see it, its for sale.

Hi, Taking about sidedraught carburators the SU carburator comes to mind, its a very popular carb in British engines and was also used in racing with success:thumbs: Was standard fitting in all the Austin/Morris Mini's.

Here  is a link that tells you all about the sidedraught and also its operating principal
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SU_carburetor

Hope this helps

No offense i wouldn't touch those things. They make the weber sidedraft kit for ALOT of vehicles, its tried and true and the intakes are cheap and nicely made. Parts for the carbs are also much easier to find as would tech help.

If you see it, its for sale.

I have been told they blow offroad and are meant for racing more so. I know you can tune them up a bunch like stated above but there more of a race and high rpm power gain than an offroad part. also I don't know if you can get legit air filters for them so seems kinda sketchy. For the money i would just get another stock carb and rock that if you get a good one they do work offroad. Toyotanners works awesome never really cuts out or anything just hard to start on steep inclines. Or I would do an efi swap IMO
89 extra cab stock on 1 tons.
83 rolled with built toy axles
92 2wd DD
first gen cab

Check out the build.
