Offenhauser with a weber 38..What do the experts say?
« on: Jan 15, 2010, 08:48:57 AM »
Hello everyone. I have been on here researching the 20R/22R hybrid motors. Currently, I am running an 84 non laser block 22r that was a rebuild from ATK that the previous owner put in. At the time, the PO added a Northwest offroad cam, maybe a NW offroad Header?, and a weber 38. It used to run like a champ, but then I made the fatal error of messing with the engine.  :shocking:
Well, the head had to come off to fix my mistake (spark plug holes are cross threaded) and that's what lead to my 20r head research.

I have decided to keep my current head and just have the timeserts put in and have it reworked, but I want to clean up the engine bay and possibly get a few hp out of it. That's where the offy comes in.

For the weber 38 with the synchronous opening, I think I need the offy 6248 CW. Has anyone on here run this setup? Personal experience? Any gain at all or just bling?

I know the 20r head swap has been beat to death  :smack:, but by looking at my current setup, do any of you think that I would see a benefit from going to a 20r head? I am doing more expedition type stuff now. I need to be able to drive safely and comfortably to the trail. The truck is on 35's, 4.88's, and has the Marlin 4,7, locked front and rear. Thanks!
