Guys honestly... thats alot of work. Unless ure gonna have it sitting around for a while its a nuesence. I mean ya you could do it... but why? the thing that i was talking about would be easy and practical... unless u gotta new car. Just make a switch under the dash somewhere by the pedals kinda thats an ignition killer, and have the E-brake lock i was telling you about and you wont be able to do anything

yea thats a pretty good idea BigMike  AND KYOTA.  Wow i never thought of that.

how does he make sure they cant just slip the chain up and over the shifters?

that would work really well if you had like a T handle grip or a shifter that takes up enough room up top so that it cant be slipped over.

I suppose you'd just have to go from where the closest point is front one shifter to another and attach it there as tight as possible.

I had one of those Grant removable steering wheel kits on my 69 Bronco.Very effective. That thing never got messed with.No wheel,no steal.Pain in the ass to bring the steering wheel inside every night, but worth it.Got a lot of funny looks at work too, carrying my steering wheel around. So I just put it in a backpack.
I also had dual tanks, just switched the selector switch to off, unless somebody knew Broncos, the switch would be hard to find. When I recarpeted it,I made sure to leave carpet over the switch, just slotted the carpet so you couldn't see the switch, but could still turn it.
And while we're on the subject of theft deterrents, this is one I like for stereos.Epoxy some fish hooks all over the back side of the head unit. That thief will definitely be deterred from messing with your stereo again  Broken razor blades work good too
I'm not even going to go in to what I've done to my Taco.... :gap:  :lipsrsealed:

J.C. Whitney sells a keyed fuel valve. Install it in the floor under the front edge of the seat of behind the passenger eat on a bucket seat truck. On a carbed truck the truck will start and run on whats in the line and the carb and it will run just long enough to make it into  the middle of the street and die where it will draw a lot of attention. Theif will not hang around with a vehicle stalled out in the middle of the street. Extra points if you put a swtich on the fel gage so it reads empty.

It sounds like he puts trans in R and front case in L and the links are welded on the shifters so a paddle lock can go thru both links.

ohh ok yea i gotcha, didnt think about how close they actually are to one another

*UPDATE

the truck has been found by the police and its in a impound yard right now. I went over there but its to dark to see anything and the Sheriff i was talking to knew nothing, only thing he could tell me is that the tranny's gone. So im guessing they've stripped some stuff off it. If its not worth fixing then i'll be parting it out to gain a little bit of money off it.

The club is useless, all you need to defeat it is a bolt cutter. Now you can't cut the club but you can cut the steering wheel. and pull the club off. I have a dual defeat on my yota first you get a multi prong security plug, it has about 1000 different plug configs to set up so the thieves can figure it out but it's like a combo lock, will take a very long time to get the right combo. Then I also have a light defeat, that is routed to the starter. Take the lighter out or leave it open and unless the thief knows about it the car won't start until the lighter is pushed in.

I had the lighter thing installed in my Camry, got up one morning and it was gone. I left the lighter pushed in so when they got in it started right up, DO'H. So all I could do is hope the jerk smoked and needed to use my lighter. He must have because I got a call from one of the divisions I work for that they had found my car in a parking lot, intact. I had them take it to the station and when I went down to get it I found my lighter thrown on the floor.

Hey Shamb, glad to hear they recovered your truck. Was the drivetrain mostly stock? So you lost a W56 maybe?

About the club, yeah most of these kind of devices may be useless and sure if someone was carrying around a portable plasma cutter () then they cant really be stopped by much in terms of club or similar devices, but at least bolt cutters are something extra that they have to walk around with when browsing vehicles in a parking lot.

My belief is that if two identical cars are parked near each other and one has a club (or similar) and the other doest, for sure they are going to go for the other car.

Also, in my case, im mostly afraid of my car and truck getting ripped off at college during class. Alot of cars are stolen or broken in weekly. And Im sure its just by young punks who found out that their key fits 5 different models of cars and they are walking to their car and its like, "ooo a 85 4runner, my key fits that, well I'll just try it..... (unlocks door) wow it works, well why not have a free vehicle!"

So if Ive got a club its just something else to piss them off and waste their time. Maybe the 30 seconds it takes for them to cut my steering wheel, someone might see them and call the cops. You'll never know..

Im my opinion, if someone REALLY wants your ride then their isnt much you're gonna be able to do about it. Hell, they could own a tow truck and just haul it away on their flat bed. :ack:

Judging from the pictures that was no ordinary steal & strip. They were looking for very specific parts. Probibly to finish their own toyota. Sorry to say that but that is what it looks like to me  :snare:
72 FJ40. 350 Multiport EFI, turbo 400, ORION T-case, 35 Procomp's  disk brakes front & rear, ARB's F&R and an onboard shower for the ladies!

unfortuantly people dont know how to work for there OWN things. They've gotta be low lifes and steal sh*t from other people that word hard for it.

Here i am, full time student working part time and saving every dime i have and then THIS happens...

i've thought about selling my 82' but i doubt i'd get enough for it, probably wouldn't be worth it.

i am going to pick up a kill switch today.
Here is a link to a site that the type of BATTERY DISCONNECT that i have used in the past, along with a KILL SWITCH. (The odds are that if the find one of these they wonk look for the other.)  It worked great for me! Simple to install. Remember however, it wont stop a rollback from dragging it off.

ok the clubs good and also try this on for size ...we did this in the army weld a good chain to the floor board (2 links)and make it long enough to go around the steering wheel then lock it after pulling it thru a few times ,, r get a quick connect grant steering wheel... also u could easily put a battery on/off switch diguised under the hood ... but what ever u do , do two types so it frusstrates them 1. loud constint air horn alarm and one other thing let it go off n then piss em off by not starting r no steering whel r chain
