93 R150F pulls foward in netural.
« on: Nov 23, 2009, 11:12:32 AM »
So, when I got the truck it did this just a little. I figured it was because of the thick gear oil.  But now that I have 200:1 its a problem. the parking break can't hold it back in 200:1 and it seems to be getting worse.  Bearing going bad maybe? Anyone else have this problem? Searched but didn't come up with much...
thanks for any help!

My 85 runner does the same thing too. I added a MC crawl box and new MC  heavy duty clutch and when i go to start it in nuetral it will also roll forward if i dont have the e brake on. I never had this problem untill i added the crawl box and clutch. Mine doesnt seem to be as bad as yours, but its anoying.

Mine does this a little, but only when the clutch pedal is out, and mostly only when it's cold out. I don't think it started before I had some master cylinder issues, though...

We had some -20 degree temps last winter, and suddenly my clutch was slipping, and before I knew it, I could sit in one place idling with the truck in gear, clutch out, no movement. It would stall if I put the clutch in. Couldn't shift with the clutch in. I finally limped it home by pushing the clutch in as far as I could...with it pushed in, the truck would creep forward. Master cylinder fixed this, for reasons I still can't figure out, but maybe I was getting air in the fluid or something and creating some kind of vacuum...I just really don't know.

Ever since then, when it's cold out, I start the truck, let out the clutch (in neutral), and the truck starts creeping forward a bit.

Not sure if this has anything to do with your issue, but I could it could trigger some "eureka!" moment for someone...

:haha: dude, a few years back i went to Minnesota in my truck at 15 below  i started my truck and the cold gear oil made my truck climb over a bump stop in the parking lot

i put the rear tcase in neutral and the tranny in 1st and it warmed up nicely without trying to move

i use 80/90 gear oil

It is MUCH worse when its cold.  I guess there really isn't anything wrong with it than.  Just to much for the breaks to handle in 200:1  :eyebrow:

It could also be that you need to adjust your clutch too. I put a new clutch in and the adjustment made it grab while in neutral.

When the tranny is in neutral, and the clutch all the way out, the clutch adjustment is not a factor, since its fully engaged.

you could try using a light weight synthetic oil such as Redline MTL  or Royal Purple Synchromesh,  It would tend to stay thinner when cold causing less drag.  I hat a trans that wouldnt shift when cold(about 30 degrees) and some synthetic 80/90 solved that.
