80 4x4 tranny clutch slave cylinder ANSWERED Thanks
« on: Nov 06, 2009, 08:19:38 AM »
On my 80 4x4 which is new to me, the previous owner just put a new r22 and clutch in.. clutch works fine. But I see the slave is leaking (its new) and its adjusted all the way out to the last thread. I have about 2 inches of free play on the pedal as it is.
Is there a different slave with a longer throw or might I have the wrong clutch fork? I am getting ready to put in a rebuilt L-52 tranny and want to have all of the correct stuff for the clutch before I do it. l
thanks :smack:

Oriely's shows same part # so believe they are the same slave cylinders.  Don't forget you adjust pedal travel on the rod that goes from clutch pedal to clutch master cylinder.

Dont know  the clutch brand... no paperwork for that. I see there is and adjustment for pedal height but you say there is another adjustment up top some where?
I see some talking about different clutch forks but none of the parts suppliers I can find even mention it. Look to me like same clutch setup was used from 79-84

I talked to the guys at marlin and the told me every thing I need. I forgot the bell housings are different..
Back the my current problem. which way do I adjust the slave rod to keep it from over extending the piston. Screw it into the cylinder? or will that make it extend out even farther???????

adjust it so that you make the distance shorter, say, 1/4 inch then drive it and see how it feels if its not good go the other way
