Im forkin' lost
« on: Nov 09, 2004, 07:10:04 AM »
Ok kids heres the deal.  I figure if something is worth doing its worth doing right (most of the time)  Ive got some big plans for my trucks but Im sorta lost on what direction to go with it.  I figure that with the axles from Hyena I might as well upgrade while I have the front end out of the truck.  I already sent the $$ for a lockright for the front so it'll be locked as well.  But Im trying to decide on the rest as the axles are already decided on.  I really want to put the new long super set axles in it but Im not sure if I can justify it as a necessity, the bling factor and unbreakable factor will be there but Im not sure If Ill really have time to use it.  The same goes for the suspension, Id like to upgrade the suspension to a better quality of spring but I dont drive the dumb thing how it is now.  I also want to put 4.7's in the rear case too but there again do I really need them?  I suppose if I kept on the same path Id need them big time as Im looking at 42's   I dunno what the hell to do.  I dont have time to do anything really but I have the $$.  I think I'll buy the spendy stuff now so Ill have it after harvest when things slow down and I can use it.  So whatcha think?

I agree about buying the stuff now while you have the dough...because you never know...you might infect your foot again  ......I think that if you want to run 42's might as well upgrade to the super axles

Its called insurance, I went thru the same thought process on mine, do you really need the top shelf stuff? not really but once you get it thats just less you have to think about especially when your on the trail. You may not think its worth it because you dont drive it that much but when you do, you know you've got the best there is. And if your planning on 42's I'd say definately get the new longs. Going slow costs money how slow you wanna go?

The big issue is that once I start doing this project Ill spend every last nickle i have on it.  Thats just the way I am when I have $$.  Take my E-maxx for instance, it started out at a $500 toy investment.  Now Ive got damned near $3000 in it!!  I just can't help myself sometimes.  But it is flat out bullet proof, Ive done everything I can think of to it and it hasnt broken yet.  Maybe the yota will be that way......

I am saving about 1k for late december.  Thats when the 90 goes to Crashfab to get a cage installed.  No matter what its getting a cage and Hyenas axles.  Id like to have everything done at once but I dont think its a great idea on my pocketbook.  The hubs will be sent to Air Ride for drilling and pinning so I can eliminate that issue at the same time.  I added up what I want to do and its almost 3k without tires.  The list includes bobby's axles and weld on beadlocks, 4.7's and shock hoops, bilstien 5150's, and a rear u-bolt flip.  That alone is $2700.  But oh the fun I could have!

Im going to be beating the hell out of the truck on all terrains.  Im not a huge fan of lockrites either but when ya get one for cheap ya go with what ya got.  The parts are going in the 90 as Im going to save the 84 as a tow rig.

The 84 has a 350 in it.  Its destined for tow rig status.  It also has 4.10's, which with an automatic isnt too bad at all even when I had 39'5 tsl's.  Its the 90 that has flames and 3.90's, not exactly the picture of performance with a 22re but it gets the job done never the less.  Oh yea there are pics of the 84 on this site, look in Ive been busy.  Thats the thread that I changed the suspension on the 84.
