The history of the Toyota 4Runner

Everything you wanted to know about Toyota 4Runners. Lots of good info on this site including year by year changes & spec sheets. Also has the spec's on the 2010 5th gen 4Runner.

The new 2010 4runner is sweet!  It sounds like they dropped a lot of the systems that they were having problems with on the last 4runner.  Of course, they still aren't any more affordable for me.  I guess I'll have to wait 10 years and buy a used one  :-\

The only thing I like about that 4Runner is the overhead console.

I stopped liking the 4runner when they shifted to the 4th generation body style.

F.Y.I. If you every see any toyota vehicles with the "Buckle Up" on the liscense plate frame (like the one on the red 4runner), the owner is someone who works for a toyota training center and that is there corporate car.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike
