or you could get a cummins for the same price and get better milage and more power!!
considering you can get a new dodge cummins for the same price as a tundra i would go with the cummins.. story..towed a sti to so cal for a car show last summer, flat bed trailer and car weighed in around 6k... buddy had a brand new tunda, towing a supra on a flat bed weighting about the same... best he ever saw was 12mpg and couldnt even pull 65mph up the sisque mt pass, i pulled it at 85 no problem and worst mileage i saw was 18.2 driving about 75-80 the whole way..... went thru half the amount of fuel he did...
Wow towing 85mph ... Isn't the maximum speed while towing a trailer 55mph?
You just can't beat a Cummins!! Hands down!! Pulling, performance, millage, dependability! I'll own nothing else! Just my
The perfect definition for a Dodge diesel is "A golden nugget wrapped in a huge turd"
On the older Dodge diesels those of you that have the automatics how do you like them? I have read allot about the Cummings set ups and it seems like the automatics just dont really hold up. What are your guys opinions on them. Me personally I think I would prefer to buy a manual but they are hard to find.
Be patient, i owned a 01 Cummings with a auto and in now own a 05 Cummings with a 6spd manual.. I love the 6 spd over the manual. It took me 2 months before i found the 6spd in Sacramento.. flew out from Socal and bought it sight un seen...Both are sweet rigs, i just prefer the 6spd over the auto. I put a 300 mile search on the internet for the truck. That might be a idea for.. Good luck.
I forgot to mention i also owned a 94 Suburban with a 350 TBI and a older Chevy truck also with a 350 carbed , they where both gutless and i found myself having to strategically plan my hill climbs when i was towing. Don't get me wrong, im a hardcore Chevy guy let alone i have work on Chevy's for 20 years as a mechanic, i just know (and i hate to say this) that the Cummings is in my opinion is the better way to go.
I think my cummins might be. Lemon. Towing about 6k up to barnwell mountain I only got 12mpg and without a load I am getting 17. 2006 auto
Cruise set at 70 mph for the towing average. Mixed driving with very very little in town for the unloaded. Figure an average speed of 60 mph on the 4 lane and 55 on back roads.P.s. That's pen and paper not the overhead liar.
I don't even have power windows and doorlocks, what is this overhead liar you speak of?
