I love using my D70, cause I go manual with it.  Another thing to learn is lighting.  I hate taking pictures around the noon hour, or on really bright sunny days.

I really hate seeing people that spend $1000 on a good DSLR, and they never take it off the AUTO settings.  They might have well just bought a point and shoot.  :shake_head:

I recently scored an 80s era Nikon F3 from my dad. The only lens I have is a 52mm. I am taking a black and white intro to photography class right now and am finding I really dig this old camera. A lot more entertaining than I thought. Don't have any of my prints scanned yet but I will get some up soon. I also have a digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix 5000. Thats what I have been using up until a couple weeks ago.

Lets see those B&Ws.

So, from what I gather, B&Ws are hard to get right. They are most often okay but it takes a lot to get them great. Any insight to this?

YES. I am still new to this, but so far I am finding it very hard to nail consistent great shots. I am still learning the ins and outs of the camera, Fstops, etc

I just shot through another roll of film this weekend so next week in class I will see if my practice has paid off...

B&W is very tricky to learn.  The thing to remember with B&W is to look for texture in your subject.  Shadows, grains, lighting angles, and etc.  Thats why pics of older people really turn out.  And different color filters will change your pictures too.  I have several red and blue filters.

I started to get into B&W and my camera shop went out of business, due to the digital camera, and I just haven't found a place to develop my B&W without mailing it off.

Full Frame Fisheye
ISO 100
30 Second Exposure
F2.8
Camera Flash Open
10 Second Timer

Push the button, get in the shot before the shutter opens. Soon as the flash goes off, leave the shot.

jrock

Wow, I couldn't tell it was a fish eye. Well, done.

It's cropped down.

Mini, your pics are amazing!! Full Frame Fisheye?? Is that a type of lens or a setting? Probably a stupid question but I'm clueless about photography. However slowly learning..

Yes it's a lens Link here

With a regular fisheye you only get part of the picture, but you get more distortion

YotaChris

Cool thanks. Wow $1000.00!! That's as much as I paid for my CAMERA!  ??? Is the lens or quality of lens really that important for a quality picture or is it more aperture and ISO setting? I still have yet to fully understand what those mean.. Is aperture the amount of light that is let in and ISO is the shutter speed??
