Right now I use 12" bar stock, from center eye to center is about 10 inches.  So If I shorting them, do most people using block or do an add-a-leaf?

BTW, thank you all for  the info..

search on jcwhitney for the add a leaf. Blocks are death traps
Colorado...its where the cool kids live

Brandon505

is that the same as stacking the leaf springs?

no more than 6" usually

mine are 9"
you can pick up a shackle kit at advance auto parts thats like a cheap lift but is good for mock up. the have holes drilled at 7,8,and 9" so you can test and tune.

i am running 2" procomp AAL up front on mine

i have seen some pretty beafy shackles made. i will attempt to draw what im doing up on Paint and post it up here

I think for now, I'm going to rock the LONG shackles.   :-\

I appreciate all the comments and knowage of wheelers that have been rocking Yota's for a long time.

I will be on the hunt for the add-a-leaf or even a 3" lift Chevy 63" spring.

What are people's thoughts/concerns on the 3" lift Chevy 63" spring??

thegoofster21

prob not much flex in them, like the stock 63"

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

True that.

The only issue that I see with long shackles, they will get hung up on stuff.  I guess it gets snagged on somthing, I just gotta hamer down some more.   :beerchug:

thegoofster21

i had 8" shackles on the rear of my runner and just hammer down and ull do fine

I did put a 3.5 x 3.5 tubing from frame rail to frame rail, that it has already moved the bushing mount. I will try to take pic showing it.

I might have time to do it today..

a simple brace in the middle would suffice. the ones i drew up are for serious hammer down situations. i like to know it CAN take it  :yesnod:

Sounds like you've never ran them.

When I first did the lift on my 87 4Runner the rear was too low. I had to add 2" blocks to the rear. When I would come to a stop & take off I would get axle wrap. When on the freeway I would sometimes get a side to side sway. I switched to 3" Pro Comp Chevy 63" & those problems went away. I've had them flat when when wheeling & have had no problems with them  :twocents: The link to my build is in my sig.
