Well I am not sure if it will hold up or not but its an extra 3rd so I thought I would give it a try.  1st time for everything.  Pics are with my phone so they kind of suck.
I am hoping it will last a few trips off road.  Gonna carry my good 3rd with me just in case.
Should we take bets on this weld job blowing my gears to pieces ?

it's good to carry a extra third anyways if you can.   and the welds can't be any worse then a Friend of mines first weld.   so looks good.                            :yikes:
i love oregon wheelin.

I think the welds will hold.
what welder you using?
looks ugly but it will do the trip.
only concern would be the weight of all the weld. bad wobble or wearing out bearings.
Id run it.

Ya I wasnt sure about the amount I welded it too.  Ill have to throw it in and see if it vibrates.  Its only gonna be in there for hollister and mcr then im gonna save up for some gears and real lockers.

The welder is an OLD Lincoln gas powered arc.  Carbs a little touchy but she can do some major amps. :flamer:

From the looks of those welds you should have cranked it up a bit and used some of those "major amps". Good luck!!!!

LOL I had it cranked well above the stick rating mainly due to the carb issue with the welder.  The idle isnt steady and it tends to throttle a little too much during welding.  I used 7018 rods.  I am not a arc welder heck for that matter I am not much of a welder but ive learned over the yrs there is only one way to learn for me. :attention:

I was not cutting, I was telling you from experence. Those welds look too cold to me. I learned how to weld using a stick and have only been using a wire feed for 12 years. What polarity did you have it set on, AC or DC?

I was running DC- and had the amps at 95 and I tried 110 but the higher amps made it very hard for me to get a bead going right.  The top welds are more of a 2nd bead.  The 1st bead wasnt nearly as bulky but it was still too cold.  Guess I should try a higher amp rod ?
