my tacoma has been making a rattling noise only when i go up hill on the road. cant figure out what it is. any ideas???

Very light kinda pingy sound? Have you tried running higher octane fuel to see if it'll go away?

no i havent i just bought the truck from a buddy of mine about two weeks ago. its almost sounds like i have a hub cap loose os something that sounds like thaat but i checked em and make sure my winch was tight and it is. it sounds like its coming from the front of the truck. thanks for the tip

Could be the heat shields on the exhaust system.

so nothing was loose and i figured out that it only rattles when i go over about half throttle. i have no idea

Half throttle or a certain rpm? This one often seems to escape people, but it'd be far more likely to make a rattle at the same rpm all the time since it'd happen at the same harmonic, if that makes sense. For instance, my friends last motorbike would always get a buzzy little vibration at about 11,000 rpm that'd make the girls happy

it has only been happening on fourth or fifth gear when im going up the hill going home. if im going over about half throttle. the rpm's having been making a difference
