Ok guys,

I have been asked again by a good friend if we are going to form any organized runs into the Springs and that he would like to lead a group in.

So I would like to get this started right now, but I would like some feedback before I make this official.

What would be the best way to do this? What if we had a run leave the Loon Lake Staging Area every two hours?

So how about this **preliminary**

Thursday:
7am - through to the Springs
9am - camp at Buck Island

Friday:
7am - through to the Springs
9am - camp at Buck Island

Saturday:
7am - through to the Springs
8am - through to the Springs
9am - through to the Springs
(any later than this and you'll likely miss the whole event)

Any ideas, comments, suggestions? I think I can organize 3 or 4 "Official" organized groups myself, but I'll need help finding a couple more trail leaders to form a couple more groups for us.

I would recommend each group be no more than 10-12 rigs? What do you guys think?

Once we figure out a schedule and # of rigs, then I will start an official sign-up thread, and it will be a first-come-first-signup basis

FYI I plan to go in early Thursday morning all the way through to the springs, and Marlin plans to go in early Friday morning all the way through to the springs.

So... So far we have requests for a Thursday morning run and a Thursday afternoon run.

Anyone else / is that all? I really figured this would have received more attention..

Great idea Mike

I know there's a group going in Friday morning.

I think that one of the concerns Mike, is that the groups may get too big and take forever (like the past 4 years for us). Just a thought.

Exactly, this is why I want to have an Official Sign-Up sheet with a set group limit, first-come-first-sign-up basis.

I think this is a great idea, but is most beneficial for people that have not been on the Rubicon before. It would be nice to have a couple of skilled "conservative" group leaders to each take a few rigs in with them, say about 5. Those that have trail experience could tag along unofficially, but only have the leader responsible for a few rigs.

I think 5 is a good number...

I just found out my group is up to 4....

I would like to be in a thursday morning group. never been there. would like some to show me the ropes. never done any "real" crawling but have (what I believe to be) a capable 4runner.

I think this hasn't developed as I'd like it to, so we'll wait for next year's event for an "Official" sign-up sheet.

For now, please feel free to form your own groups and encourage new wheelers to the Rubicon trail to join up and wheel in together

Let's plan something ahead of time next year. Maybe we can post an official sign up sheet like, when you post the MCR9 registration thread.

Exactly, that will be the idea. It will be *almost* the 10th anniversary of the event (gasp!) so it will be a good time to really make it an official run sign-up ordeal.
