big drop pitman arm? Uh... I'll get Hi-Steer.
« on: Aug 10, 2009, 09:40:48 AM »
Hi folks, I'm gradually buying an 87 4Runner (project) that has a SAS with some big springs in the front. I'm trying to find a pitman arm because turning is kinda important... I don't have much specific info on the lift height of the springs (might be 4 or 5 inch Alcans?) but the truck has factory power steering and the J-ball arm (?) on the axle. I know I saw something like this earlier but now I can't find it (of course).
Will I need to get a hi-steer set up to get the correct pitman arm? I'm going back to school later this month so $$ will be tight for a while.
I'd like to get this arm so when the time comes to load it on the trailer it'll go way smoother... since the truck runs and all that.

Thanks,
Dan

YOU NEED HIGHSTEER... it is pointless to keep the push pull if you already have an IFS steering box

Awesome, that's what I needed to hear. I was getting the steering stuff all mixed up in my head and without actually seeing it fit together I can't figure out what I need to use. I'm a "hands-on/visual" learner... it sucks sometimes but I get by.

Thanks a ton!!!
