Need help with 5spd and 4WD sticks
« on: Aug 04, 2009, 02:34:49 PM »
I bought a 93 Pickup, 4x4, V6 from a kid who did a 4" body lift.  And like dope he didn't put raise the sticks properly.  He had a buddy weld some sort of extension on the 5spd stick but not on the 4WD one.  Needless to say, both are pretty bad in that the boots don't seal the outside air from coming into the cab, and the 5spd stick seems to hit the 4WD one when going into 4th gear and reverse.  What has everyone used for this type of thing?  And, where can I buy these extensions?  What do you recommend?

Thanks!
David

I agree.   the very most I'd put on a truck is a 2" bl, I've got a 3, but thats because the PO put it on.

As for your question, mine were poorly extended, and I actually had one of mine break on me (not good).

I welded it back together, and then cut a 3" piece of pipe (3/4" I think) longwise, and then welded it around the shifter weld.  You can do the same, and if you measure properly, you can get the shifters to the right height where the boots fit around the shifter properly

Yes get rid of the 4" Bl, I don't believe anybody makes anything bigger than 3" so the one you have is likely one of those backyard builds that should never be used on a rig.

What size tires are on it?  You can get a combo of 4"(if needed) using other/better ways of lifting a vehicle to clear larger tires and not have the shifter problems.
