My trip to Highlakes I ended up driving on the rim for 30 miles.

What day was that?

We went up friday, and the conditions were pretty good.  one of the trucks we went with broke the steering studs so that was challanging getting home, i imagaing driveing through town with no tire woudl suck.  lol  How did you pull that off?

We went up late Saturday night and were planning on coming home Sunday night. I found that driving on the rim is rather embarrassing, but I hit town at 2am driving 10mph so not to may people pointed and laughed  I would also like to apologize to all of the people I woke up that live along skyline 

So did you invest in a tire repair kit?

Nope next time I will take the time to put on my MTRs instead of bringing my street tires

high lakes is ok, its just a good trail ride. Morris is where its at, and the back side of Saddle. But that got shut down a year or so ago.

Thats cool man.  There are a few of us locally that could have lent a hand to get you back on all 4 tires.

Well if you plan on driving on up again, post it up.  I know of at least 5 people on here locally that might want to join.

It was a spur of the moment decision to clean house on Sunday or go to Highlakes.
I saw two Toyotas up there but neither of them had a spare.

yea i don't have a spare on me, but everyone else i go with usually do.

Next time take duct tape roll it up sticky side out and stuff it into the slice until the airs stops leaking.  You can run about 10lbs of air and not have it leak out.  About 4-5yrs ago a buddy of mine sliced two tires going into Eagle Lakes(lower section of Fordyce trail), within about 500ft of each other.  There was only 3 of us, he had 35's, and the other spares were 33's and 37's.  We tried the patch kit and quickly ran out of patches, so we started using duct tape.  He was able to wheel back to camp, and IIRC, the tire was still holding air the next morning.

i have also seen this done, my buddy used all his plugs and they werent holding, so he used his plug tool with duck tape (i dont know why everyone keeps calling it duct tape j/k)    and he was able to get home with air to spare

I know what you mean about Duck and Duct.

I thought I had  a picture of it, but I can't find it.  The slice was an easy 2.5-3" long.  After that I started looking into developing a patch and an inner tube, but seeing how only one other person with us has punctured a sidewall with a 3" limb laying on the trail(driver error) I haven't scene the need to follow up on it yet.
