ABC News devoted a big chunk of tonight's broadcast to Jackson (no surprise) and said something that stunned me. I had heard he was deeply in debt, but $400 million??  Holy crap, how on Earth do you do that??

They said he spent $30 million per year -- and was earning had $20 million per year coming in. Not to mention what he must have earned during the peak of his popularity.

I simply do not understand it. I cannot relate to those kinds of numbers. I do not know how you can burn through that much money.
I just don't get it.

Hey guys

Lot's of harsh words in here for a person who passed away. I must admit that due to my age it doesn't affect my life; I wasn't in to that kind of music when he was recording. So obviously I had many of the same feelings expressed in this thread -- oh well there goes a strange man -- but the guy died and there are probably millions of people completely devastated by this so I think we can at least morn his loss and show the guy *some* respect.

normaly I would agree with this. butt I do not this time. as I'm sure you know his trial was in my little town. and I had some "inside info" on the evidence agast him. ...... if it had been anyone that could not drop $$$ on it they would be in jail now. on a side note if he had gone to jail he mite still be alive.


so no more respect then I'd have show O.J. after his trial.

Eeeehhhhh, sorry!  That's exactly the mind set that people are talking about, the thought that just because he was widely known and falsely idolized we should feel sadder for his loss or show more respect.  I feel worse when I hear about an older local kicking the bucket than when somebody like this dies. 

And if somebody's life is so meaningless (aside from his family and close friends) that they're completely devastated by his passing, well...  do I really need to finish the thought?

The memorial is/was nothing more than a media freak circus with someone making a bundle of cash over his death by putting on a hollywood production.
The guy was a accused child molester (several times), wanted to buy the elephant mans bones, carved his face to look like a woman (then denied he had surgery), bleached his skin to look white, paid big bucks to keep his sorry a$$ out of prison, and slept with a friggin monkey, placed an infant over a high railing, and made his children wear masks to hide their faces. Now that he is dead all is forgiven and he's now a hero, how sick is this world getting?? At least now maybe his kids will have a somewhat normal life.
