This is a 4Runner I picked up from a friend around the first of the year. It needed some work. It had a half completed motor swap gone bad. The truck was originally from Texas and was in great shape compared to a Minnesota truck. I couldn't resist and found myself building another rig. I hope to keep this one nice and wheel it a couple times per year while driving it on the street.

Photos of the dash back together and road worthy for the first time. I drove the truck untested on a 600 mile round trip the first week it was running. The oxygen sensor went out and the alternator shorted out with the engine in the key off position not running. Smoke started pouring out from the closed hood of the parked truck while we were bending tube for the bumper. We opened the hood and found the alternator to be extremely hot and smoke pouring out of the windings

The Frontier 4x4 DOM winch bumper installed using a TG winch plate and custom tubes. The bumper is bolt-on using the factory bolt holes and two that I added myself for extra support since we covered up the outer two holes with the stinger. The latest version of this bumper does not cover the outer bolt holes like mine does.

More front bumper pics. It turned out pretty sick. It is really nice being able to unbolt it. For the first time I will be able to sell a truck and keep my tube bumper. I can put the stock setup on before the truck gets sent down the road.

I added two more bolts for the front bumper.

For the front suspension I built a RUF spring pack with the stock 3 leaf pack on the top and a full 4 pack of Jeep YJ springs underneath. The 7 leaf pack seems to work pretty well and not be overly tall. The bottom 4 YJ springs are pretty thin and don't add a ton of lift. Luke from Frontier 4x4 only used 3 of the Jeep leaves in his and the front sits nice and low. Probably too low if you are running larger than 36" tires and don't want to trim the fenders.

Front diff reinforced and a tube truss. The pipe cap diff armor is beefy but looks like hell. In the rear I am gonna cut the axle before I weld the pipe cap on and increase the fluid capacity of the differential.

I used 1993 Ford F-150 2wd 4 leaf springs for the rear. I ended up moving the front hanger forward 4.5" and the rear back 4" and it turned out perfect. Great shackle angle and the wheel is centered. I used spring hangers from RUFF STUFF and purchased a new bushing kit from Summit for around $50.

I used a t-case mount made by one of the Rock Brawlers which worked awesome. I was able to stick it in there at just the right spot to save the factory emergency brake. I bought a used FROR skidplate from a friend. I bought a Triple stick shifter in order to retain the factory rear heat center console which after some tuning is working decent.

Dual Cases with Triple Stick shifter and weld on style t-case mount
High Steer
RUF front springs with stock rears/ Jeep YJ packs, and Marlin shackles front and rear
TG Dirty 30s
High Pinion front with 4.88 gears front and rear - welded front and rear
Frontier 4x4 Front bolt on winch bumper
Bilstein 12" shocks front and rear
57" F-150 rear springs with Ruff Stuff hangers and mounts and Energy Suspension bushing kit
35" Goodyear MTRs on Eagle Alum rims

The MTRs on my 15" rims area a decent highway tire. They are noisy but still ride decently smooth. The tires on 20" rims are richard Cepek FCII and are much better on the road than the MTRs. The MTR is a mud tire and is more aggressive though.

Trail Gear has the choice of flat or dropped. I don't think the flat is long enough to reach full turning radius though. My axle does not reach the steering stops like it did with the stock push pull steering.

I want to go but I'm not to shure how things will work out. I'll have to wait till it gets closer to time. I'm going to try to make it to the ttora takover in hotsprings as well. If I can't make the ttora even i will definately make it to the GATOR event. Here is a link of what I've been dooing, or should I say redoing.

Very impressive! Lookin good. Have you been to SMORR? I was there in April and it was a really great place. Very well kept and great camping. I plan to come down for GATOR with or without a rig. Hopefully with my rig and a couple others.

No I havent been yet its like a 6 to 8 hr drive on crappy roads, and I still hvnt seen many pics from there. I Heard the camping and all that was super nice, but Im unshure about the wheeling. I just havent heard much. Ya got any pics of the hard stuff?
