Anybody ever do a 22r to 22re conversion.Is there anyone in the northbay that would like to help me out if i got all the parts together?Im located in Santa Rosa,ca,95401

I have the whole write-up on it i got from pirate,but the wiring is scaring me a bit.

look at site you're on then ask that question again lol.


that swap is more common then a SBC in a yota lol
and the wiring is HELLA easy.

it seems easy enough but i am no electrician and it just seems confusing to me.LOL maybe its just intimidating.Ill email Marlin then.

Im no electrician myself.

I actually HATE factory harness's

I make my own when I can.

but the 22RE is super easy.
Ive installed a dozen of them.
if you have a question let me know. ill help on what I can.

I will definitly shoot you any questions if i decide to go that route.I was just reading the tech on installing propane and i might do that.I read GOTPROPANE has a dual fuel kit that will allow me to run propane or gas.But i am need to consider what would be more cost effective.

haha I worked at Les Schwab for a year as a tire tech.

I posted not saying i did conversions.... rather several installs.
so i am pretty familiar with them and could help him out if had questions as to what was what.
and what things can be done to make it easier to do something rather then what the repair manual may suggest.

Ok so i am planning on doing the swap this weekend.Anything i should watch out for before i start it? Can i use the same motor mounts?anything you guys can add to help in the procces or prepare for before i get into this would help.thanks  :thumbs:

only thing different is the Electronic Fuel Injection and you need an EFI Distributer, Coil & Ignitor.

you also need an EFI Gas Tank.

most of the stuff is interchangable between to two.... being as they use the same block. lol
so yes the motor mounts interchange

ok so i ended up getting a complete 22re out of an 85 pickup.So all i really have to worry about is doing the wiring.

you are completely set then engine wise.


make sure you get an 85 EFI Harness so all the plugs, sensors, etc.. match.

yeah i got the complete wiring harness that came out of the truck and the computer that came out of the truck to so everything is going to match.I do have a question though about the exhaust.I have a header on my 22r.will the header fit on my 22re or do i need to stick with the stock manifold,i am not worried about the smog sensors and if i need to i will drill and tap a hole for the o2 sensor.Thanks for the help guys. :)
