Mounting wood racks in the bed
« on: May 12, 2009, 09:54:56 PM »
Anybody have any ideas how to mount woodracks in the bed? the lack of utility holes makes it somewhat difficult to produce a sturdy rack...i built some mounts for now, that might be temporary pending any ideas shown here. ill have pics in the morning

i mean like wooden bedsides that go above the bedsides so you can stack wood against them.

all iv got is a crappy paint edit of a pic i took when i had wood in the bed

does that make sense?

ya i think your only option is to add pockets like above  U can screw them like shown or screw or weld them on the top of bed sides.

I would get angle and bolt it down to the bed rails, them mount the wood rack off of that. its how i mounted my rack. even if you mount a stack pocket like you posted, it would be stronger. Like 1/8 angle would be good. 3/16 maybe even 1/4. I bet if you weld or bolt the pocket to the sheet metal after time it will tear on you
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

yea im sure it will tear. its temporary for now. i think im gonna get a longer piece of angle iron and weld that bracket to it and then mount it with  at least 2 bolts to teh bed rail.

use angle all the way around, make slots for removable sides or build a tubing box welded to the angle and just set the whole thing on the truck when you need it
