Also fixed my door lock cylinder finally. It has had fits since I bought the truck.  I can now unlock the passenger door with the key from the driver side.  After tearing it apart no wonder it didn't work.  2 of the tumblers were messed up.  Overall a way easier fix than expected.  If I were to do it again I would have just had the locksmith fix my broken one instead of buying from toyota :moon: and having the locksmith re key it. :smack:  OH well

More pics...

And the last pic is the famous yearly Moab brake job.  Moab 2010 I had to do my front brakes, this year my back brakes.  But come to find out it was actually my e brake cable that seized causing me to think I needed new brakes.

Did this a while back.  Figured I'd throw up some pics of it.  Funny I have had my green hitch cover on my truck for a while now (about a year ago I built it) built from ballistic fab skulls and now they sell hitch covers, which are a little larger than the ones I have made.

Here is a build of the one I made for my wife to throw on when she drives my truck.

Last weekend I started building my sliders

Tools I will be using for build:
Lincoln 140 Welder
Angle Grinder
Sander

Specs 80" long by 6" wide 1-5/8" diameter

75% of materials rough cut  (this is what came out of 1 length of tube)

made a template out of painters tape, trial and error until I found what worked.  The first cuts I basically made in 2 cuts but it created more of a V shape

After working with my cuts I found it was better to cut this way.  I actually used a combination of the two cuts and cut at this angle with 2 cuts like first.

After making the cuts you have to take a grinder to the tips so the curvature of the tube matches.  I just grabbed a spare piece an ground it til it matched.  I just eyeballed everything like matching the 2 ends of the connector pipes.  Seemed to work fine.  Everything came out great for not owning a notcher.

On the agenda for tomorrow, patch father in laws roof and sand, weld and prime at least one slider.

Got one side welded together:

Still one side to go, paint and legs.

Sliders welded on

Yota87Truck

Definitely a learning experience to build my own.  And the part that I thought was going to take the longest was actually the easiest and the part I thought would be easy took a while.  If you have the money it is definably worth it to buy them.  Although this depends on the tools available to you.  What took me the longest was notching the pipe.  I did not expect this to take as long as it did.  welding it onto the truck I thought was going to be difficult, but I just tack welded it on the bottom of the sliders to the frame.  Then I tacked all the legs and sliders on and then bent it until it broke my tack welds off the frame.  I welded final welded up everything (moving frequently) and painted and installed.

These took me about 3 Saturday projects.  Non pressure, probably 3 half days to install.

possible extended brake line (Haven't looked at mine, had blocks on it when purchased but ya never know)
t case protection
modify front bumper
and with time add to rear bumper (quarter panel protection)

Mega Baby Huey
