yeah theres enough in that thread to give you some ideas

Slolyfe

Im looking for a cage that traces the round fenders of the first gen. There arent many out there. But i always forget about pirate.

I dont hink there is any in that thread but look around over there, some people are rolling tubing on their cages and it looks pretty slick. In fact I think locktup on here rolled some on casy105's truck.

here is a pic of my old 1st gen.  No rolled fender tubes tho. it was my first project with the bender, it turned out pretty good.  I would change a few things if I was doing it again.
stupid people shouldn't have kids.

Slolyfe

So here is what I got so far. Give me your opinion...

Looks pretty good. I'm not sure if I like how the A-pillar and fender bars all meet...  Also why are the a-pillars cut and re-welded? looks good tho. are you building it?

No im having it built. Dont have all the tools.
Im in the same boat as you with the A pillar/fenders meeting.
The A pillars are mocked up to see what looked better with scrap, thats why they they are welded. If you look closely both sides are different.

Not a bad start.  :yesnod:  I was thinking that you would have a tube follow the round shape of the fender opening.  :dunno:  Otherwise, looking good so far.

yotaboy79

i really don't like the way the A pillars and fender bars meet and im not really a big fan of the way they meet the 3-piece main hoop either or the 3 piece main hoop. sorry but if that was my truck i would have him start over but thats me. im not trying to be an ass im just trying to help :beerchug:
theres a link to the build of my old wheeler in my sig it was a first gen and it had an exo your welcome to look at that for pics theres also a link to the new build but the new build is a second gen so its not really what your looking for, but it does have an exo too.

Slolyfe

No worries! thats why I posted it. The A pillars are going to change. The reason the main hoop is 3 piece is because they are going  to continue down to the rear frame once i build a bed for it. But thanks for the input!

Main hoop looks strong, but I am not diggin the fenders at all. It took away from the round fender look. Just an opinion and everybody has got one , good luck

I agree. But think the future of those fenders is short lived. the driverside is already trashed. So I think a sawzall is in the future.

Just take those fenders out now and you can narrow it some and it is inedible anyway and then it will look like you meant to do it that way in the first place. Hey here is a link to my first gen if you haven't already seen it http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=45027.0 no fenders.

Well here it is. Would love to trim/loose the fenders but still have all the smog/vacuum lines and such. Plus i like the front bumper on it now. But Im just stoked to really beat on it now!

wish i would have seen the thread earlier, theres a welding shop right around the corner from extreme that has a tube roller. it would have been sick to have the fender tube rolled

Yea but i gave up on doors. this truck has been rolled 3 time without the cage then beat back into place. So doors didnt fit anymore anyway
