Good video, thanks for sharing. They seem to be doing pretty good. I wonder what PSI they were running those at.

they seem to be closer to a 35 than my km2s. i buddy has them on his jeep and they work very well here in ohio. tight muddy trails, offcamber climbs.  the original mtrs did not work on our trails.   you would get stuck in the mudholes on the way to enjoy what little rock we have.

Considering this is a thread about a tire, and one that's been asked about in the right section, why not move it to the tire section?

This past weekend I wheeled with a friend using the new tires. He has only had them in the snow (this past winter) and he says the old version MTRs performed a bit better (in the snow). He is very eager to see how the new ones will compare in the rocks this summer  I told him I would ask him again at the end of the year to see how he likes them. He said they are MUCH quieter on road, which I expected as per their marketing strategy.

Considering this is a thread about a tire, and one that's been asked about in the right section, why not move it to the tire section?
Done, thanks Nate

wish they made them in a 15" rim. i would switch to a 17 but then i have to do bead locks and thats not cheap!

because they don't hold the tire on as well as a 15". i have ran 17" rims before and rolled beads several times, but since i switched to a 15" rim i haven't had a single problem in over 2 years.

Interco :ladys-man:

as far as a good all terrain for the trail and DD my richard Cepek fun country II have taken the cake in my opinion.

but if they keep the old pattern mtr and this new kevlar design, rightfully offroad enthusiasts will have the best of both words to choose from!

old Mtr's only way to go! New style looks gay at first but when i seen them in person they look all right. not sure how they will perform but i have been rocking the crap out of my old ones and they are straight bad ass and take it..... i got a deep slice in one of them this year finally and it has not tore out yet and the slice is bout all the way through!!! kinda scary mobb n around wit it so i am looking for a good one so i can make it a spare!! So if the new one hold s up to be a good tire i might get a set. cause the rocks around here are sharp and jagged and will make a good day a bad day just like that bam!!

I bought a set of the old style mt/r 40's a few months ago. They say for racing use only on the sidewall. Does anybody know how these tires rank with todays tires. Are these the same one Marlin is running?  An ex competitor lives here locally and used to be sponsored by Goodyear and I got them brand new from him, he had them when he competed.

I have a set of 40" mtrs on my 4runner, but they dont say "for racing use only" on them.  what do you mean by how they rank with todays tires?  The old style mtr's have always been a great tire, some people pregnant dog about the sidewalls but lots of my friends and I have been running them for a few years in our very sharp granite hear in south dakota and have never had a failure.

I guess I mean by todays tires like the Creeepy Crawlers and so on. From best I could find the 40 mt/r came out in something like 04. I know the tire world didnt' change in that little of time but I think the Red Label came out afterwards. I notice folks outwest love um and any where the climate is mostly dry they are still a tire of choice. In the south I don't think I have ever seen a set in action. It either Red Labels or swampers.

New or old i think they both are a great tire and they don't empty your wallet also! Been wheeling my old style for like 5 years or better and have been great, finally got my first slice on the sidewall couple months ago and it still is rocking good!!
