Steve- I will be trailering it since right now it's green stickered and don't have the time to get it smog'ed
I don't like setting up camp at night even though we always do  :sneeze: I think since we don't know what the trail is like lets do it when it's daylight.

Kyota- www.ciscogrove.com great place my  :twocents:

The entrance to Fordyce is right at the campground.

Fernando

thanks Fernando! thats awesome that the trail is right there

Friday morning still isn't a guarantee we wouldn't be setting up camp in the dark .  It seems like no matter how early we plan to leave it is always dark by the time we get there.  Friday sounds good though, especially if we end up having to go elsewhere.

i have a question. should i put my doors back on my truck?
It depends on the time of day you are heading up.  If it is daylight and the weather is good, no, if it is night time, you might want to.  One 4th of July weekend a few years ago, Raul and Fernando all but froze in his '84 w/half doors coming in at night.

Might want to bring a heavy jacket/hat and gloves as well.  00Rokyoat(Mike) froze w/his half doors on his 3rd gen the Friday morning we headed out for the round-up in August '07.  I think he was more bundled up that morning than when we are snow camping.

Do you run w/half doors, or no doors at all?  If you run w/o doors, you could just pull them off when you get to the lake and then put them back on when you go home.

Also you can get ticketed for no doors.  I think Fernando had a CHP measure his half doors once a few years ago.

uh doi I was talking about going OUT that way but not now. Tony is in and said we'd unload my truck at eagle lakes entrance, have one of the women watch it and take my tow rig up to cisco campground and he'd follow me in his sidekick thingy and bring me back down then we'd head up the trail. IIRC if you go in thru cisco you're missing alot of the lower tail? oh yeah as of now (could change) going in friday morning-ish

However you guys get there make sure you stop by for a

If you go into Fordyce Lake via Cisco Grove you miss the entire trail up to the Committee X-ing. i.e., 3 river/creek x-ings(depends on how much water is being released), drive-line hill, sunset hill, winch hills 1-2, and about 9 miles of the trail).  From Committee X-ing to Meadow Lake you have winch hills 3-5, and the big mud pit(most of the time).  On holiday weekends this section of the trail is usually the busiest and takes the longest to get through to Meadow.  We have spent hours sitting due to breaks(none in our group) on this section of the trail.  If you get an early start on Saturday(Sunday normally has less traffic), you should be able to run the trail all the way to Meadow, then turn around and make it back down to Committee X-ing before dark, that is if there aren't a lot of people on the trail.  If you didn't want to run the rest of the trail in the dark, you could then head back to Eagle Lakes via Fordyce- to-Cisco route, then about a mile or so down HWY 80 to Eagle Lakes.  You could be back at camp in about an hour from Committee X-ing over running the rest of the trail in the dark, then again running the trail on 40's or 42's shouldn't be much of an issue in the dark either.

I would imagine the weather is going to be nice, still probably going to be cold as ice at night though. If you are drunk by then it won't matter anyway.

If you stop in GV hit me up I will probably be around. Doubt I will have the new tranny and clutch in let alone money to go though

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

Yeah holy hell, we went to the south fork of the Yuba river yesterday and it was raging, about 2-3 weeks ago they were not letting nearly as much water out
