Idling Problem
« on: Apr 25, 2009, 02:58:55 PM »
Hello everyone. I am new to this site but was told that if I ever needed to get good tips regarding Toyota trucks, this was the place. Here is my situation:
I just had the head redone and replaced the timingchain, tensioner, guides, and sprockets. Put everything back together and put crank on tdc. Started the engine. The engine stays running only when I keep the pedal off idle. Truck won't stay idling long enough for me to adjust the timing accuratley. All vacuums lines have been routed correctly.
Any suggestions as to what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

You might need to adjust your idel screw, or TPS Throttle Position Sensor". both are easy todo just google them. If that doesnt do it. Pull the intake and give it a good cleaning.
If you see it, its for sale.

I also think you need to check or adjust your throttle position sensor.  By the way is it carb or efi?
