79 and up fj40 gas tanks help!!!
« on: Apr 22, 2009, 06:12:14 PM »
has anyone ran into how hard it is to get the under the truck gas tanks out? i just bought a 79 fj that has sat for a few yrs with some gas in it and i wanted to get it cleaned and re sealed at my local radiator shop. problem is that i cant get the dang thing out. i removed all the bolts for the drive shaft but its almost spring loaded in there. but the tank is wedged in there now, its hitting the springs, pumkin you name it. anyone got any ideas before i cut this thing in half to get it out. also is there a tank of something i could put in that is more of a rectangle and not some crazy shape like this one for easier takeouts in the future???????

Been there, had to lift the body up to get it out as I remember.
