co2 tanks

ive looked around on google and dont know exactly what i need for my co2 tank. i want to get a regulator i can to air up my tires..... ive seen others use them and figured since i dont use it for paintballing anymore i might as well use it for wheelin..... so what do you guys use or have???

I bought my regulator from Poly Performance for around $100. If I had to it again, I would buy the regulator from either a fire extinguisher supply house or a welding supply outlet such as Airgas.

Just bring your tank in and they should be able to help you. You can buy either a fixed or adjustable regulator. The fire extinguisher supply house might also have a tank holder for you. If your paintball tank doesn't already have one a handle is also nice. The hose and chuck can be purchased from Home Depot really cheap.

Take a picture of the tank and the valve. It should be the same as my valve (just not so snazzy).

I don't know anything about paintballing  so what is this.


The valve on the tank (in the left of the picture) (EDIT) DOES NOT look like the valve on my tank.  The other thing to consider is the expiration date on the tank. If your tank is getting close to it's recertification date, you may want to swap it for another one now.

I would first take it in and see what they have for you. The valve on my tank has a simple round valve controller (almost like a sprinkler valve). What function does the part of your tank valve at the top of the picture do?


Airgas will swap tanks out for free (you need to set up an account) and you simply pay for the fill ($12 to $15). Sports Chalet will fill "any" CO2 tank for $5 in their paintball department. I tried it once, but the tech said he didn't have the right fitting to fill my tank.

Did the scuba shop fill it with CO2 or just compressed air?

For your tire fills, go with CO2 over compressed air. Most, if not all scuba shops used compressed air (you can't breathe CO2  ). CO2 is much more dense than compressed air, so you will get more fills out of the CO2 tank.

I see that you are in Chico. If any of these Sports Chalets are close to you (I don't think so), their scuba/paint ball department can hook you up on the $5 fill.
