Please Help - Clutch pilot bearing removal
« on: Apr 10, 2009, 09:24:15 PM »
Hello,
Is there a technique to removing clutch pilot bearings?  or maybe someone can recommend an in-expensive tool?  I purchased a tool.  but, it's not the correct size.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

find a drill bit or wooden dowel thats fits inside the pilot bearings ID, pack the hole full of grease and tap the shank end of the drill bit or dowel into the hole. the pressure will drive the bearing out.

if you have a slide hammer then u can go to auto zone and rent the bearing puller for free. but only if the grease method doesn't work. i have used the clutch alignment tool after you fill it with grease.

None of those methods worked for me last time I had to pull one.   I had to cut it with a dremmel.   good luck.

The wonder bread didn't work for you?   :screwy:

Next time try peanut butter and jelly instead of baloney.

Hi, Over here we use soap, mainly washing soap and pack it in tight. Make a make a woden dowel, just right size from an old broom stick  or the like and tap in with hammer. Will allways work if soap is packed in tight

I purchased a tool.  but, it's not the correct size.

rent a tool that has the right size, most autoparts stores let you rent tools for free, usually put down the cost of the tool as pament, and they refund the $ when you bring it back.... if you jack their tool, it's ok, you already bought it
