Draw on your experieince for steering mods on 79 toy
« on: Feb 22, 2009, 07:40:10 AM »
So I have a 79 long bed 4X4, with 32 MTs and a 3" lift.  It's fun.  We play in the mud and snow, having yet to make the trip to any real trails.  This is our "gofer" truck with hauling duties(firewood, parts, trash,etc.).

My daughter is going to be driving soon and with the addition of power steering and some carb work I think it will be a nice driver for her.

Now my question.  As I convert to power steering, should I be stay with my pull/push setup or pop for Marlin's high steer setup with an IFS box?

So what's your experience?  Do the bennies of cross/high steer for my mild little toy justify the expense and effort?

Thanks!

I would go with the highsteer, just to help eliminate the bump steer that the push-pull steering has.  The high steer is safer cause of its strength.  Besides think how envious the other kids will be of your daughter. 8)
