I take it this is on an 86+ during an SAS?  Through the frame, caster will be much better than having shackles mounted under the frame.

I've seen ALOT of SAS rigs with shackle into frame interference be cause of the frame not being straight shot...A bumpstop for the springs will help stop this from happening...But I know that if it has to(without a bumpstop), it wouldn't ever interfere. So, Under frame is best in my eye.Plus if your it gives you a higher lift,  if thats what you also need too....

Mine are under...Thats cuz somebody i know built it that way, he didnt buy a kit.....my caster is fine b/c he also dropped the front hanger to compensate....He put stock springs up front when he built it so thats all the lift it had.  I have since put rears  up front and moved my axle ahead.  If I ever put any other springs on it, it will be too high, but right now its perfect (IMO). I havent had any problems with it....I say do it either way....

i was going to run mine through the frame and i did but i put my rears upfront and now my springs are bottomed out on the frame.... so now i am going to run hangers under!!! either way is fine.... as far as caster goes i am running a boomerang shackle to correct my negative caster angle!!

I would run the tubes through the frame for #1 caster angle #2 the tube is alot stronger than a hanger #3 Keeping the center of gravity low in the truck
This is the way I did my 91 SAS and do not regret the extra work. The truck runs great down the road and the lower center of gravity crawling is a huge plus.

 :headscratch:

The mounting point will be a solid 4 to 6 inches lower therefore increasing height of the truck.

i am in the process of removing my under frame shackles and going to a stock through frame setup.
the reason being is i had my wife sit in the truck and cycle the steering for an un related problem and i noticed that the shackles swing side to side about an inch, therfore explaining why my bushings wear so fast. through the frame will reduce this a little, espesially when using braced shackles

Thats is reason number two, it will or can eventually rip the frame with the lower mount. And there was a reason toyota originally did this.

we should all just leave our trucks stock and not have to worry about it ;)
