Decided Advantage

Tim here,

I have a couple of Toys presently.

A 1975 FJ40 rust bucket that I'm attempting to develop some autobody and paint skills on, rebuilding the body. It will look close to stock when I'm done but will have a number of small mods.  I'm an engineer and a look time gear head so I can't leave anything completely alone.

Very few mechanicals mods planned, I have a set of 79 axles have I'll be using for a disk brake conversion, 2 1/2" lift springs, 31" and a holley carb.  My plan is to seel the cruiser when it's pretty.

I picked up a little 79 4x4 toy pickup for parts hauling, that is already proving to be a blast to play in.  I have no idea of the history of this truck but judging from the few rust holes it hasn't been in this area long. Past the typical 80s mods, some lift, 32"s, a pretend roll bar in the back.  it's pretty stock (20R, 4spd).

The pickup came with a spare set of axles and parts so my mind is thinking ahead of a buggy or something for the future.

Now, mud, and trails will be the recreation part for the Toy truck.  My plan is to fix it when it breaks with best of breed parts(22r may e, 5speed, etc.) but keep it fairly close to stock.

I'm also a boater.  I switch from Baja to Advantage a couple of years ago so thats where my name comes from.

Work is in Rochester MN, and boating and Summer is spent mainly in Wabasha (along the ol' Miss')

Looks like a great site and a great bunch!

:welcome: II  :turtle: I remember those salty old days when I lived in WI and regularly drove to St. Paul. I brought a pristine 70 Pontiac Formula 455 with me from CA. Absolutely no rust, wasn't long before I sold it couldn't believe what people were offering me for it.

Having a 12 second Honda is just like coming out of the closet; You're going to surprise a bunch of people, but in the end you're still gay.
