Shooting rock!!

So, a buddy from a local forum, Timbercrawler, pm'd me that he'd be right up the river from me blasting some rock!  I was stocked I had the day off, and off I went.  He told me they'd shoot anywhere from 12:00 to 2:PM.  I showed up a little before 12 and got to meet Mark just briefly before they chased me out of there.  So, I went to a safe place across the river and field and found a good spot to take pics!

It had been years since I've got to see a good shoot.  Mark said this was nothing, but I was excited.

so what was the purpose of them blasting the rock?  to prevent a slide?  or mining?

:thumbs: can't see the pics, but I got to see some as well back in oct.  We were driving the scenic (long) route from Alamosa, CO to Colorado Springs, CO with my grandparents, and we had to sit and wait for about a half hour, 5 cars back from the stop, while they blasted rock to prevent it from falling onto the roadway.  That was really cool.

It's a small pit, they needed some rock for a project.

Definitely cool -- years ago I watched as rock was blasted to widen a road corner and allow placement of buried phone cable.
