Wow, there's a shat ton of misinformation goin' on in the past couple days here  :gap:

FJ40 F&R, FJ60/62 F&R, FJ80 R are all 9.5" diffs. The 80 has the strongest of these, though. I can't remember why, but it's not a HUGE strength difference.

Minitruck front diff is LP 8". FJ80 front diff is HP 8".

If you flip a 9.5" diff to high pinion, I believe you'd need to mount your engine in the rear. Otherwise, you'll be going backwards with a front-mounted engine. It'll spin the axleshafts the wrong way.

If any of this is wrong, please correct. This is just all that I've gathered over the years. Thought I'd try to clear it up in one post  :disturbed:
how is there a bunch of wrong info goin on?  Uncle Ben and I both said that the fj 60 axles use 9.5 ring and pinion and that the 80 series rear is 9.5.  I also stated that the 80 series front is HP.  and I also said that you cant just flip a third memeber and make it HP, cuz then it would be rotating the wrong direction, which would be the reason for a rear mounted engine like you said.  I think we are all clear! ha ha
Full spool all around now your talking man! I'm so sick of clicking lockers and stuff breaking on lockers and not working and making so much noise!
yeah man, its cheap and reliable!  and less little parts to break!

you wouldnt be going backwards with a front mounted engine... the R&P will just be on the coast side (weaker)

actually if you flip the third over (180*)  then it would turn the wheels the opposite direction.  So when you put your truck in first gear to go forward, the upside down third member would actually be turning the front wheels backwards.  I had my rear third out just a couple hours ago and was messin around with it.

Silly me....didn't even think when I posted that.  The R&P would have to be reverse cut!

I wasn't trying to single anyone out. I saw someone say 8.8" thirds in Toyotas and flipping third members for HP. Just a couple of things I caught that I thought I'd throw my thoughts on.

So, take it for what it cost ya - totally free  :gap:

I think I get what you're saying there, so I guess I'm glad I kept someone from flying??? Haha! I dunno. Just hope I've helped and not hurt the process...

Regardless, I'm excited to see the 80 stuff under the 4Runner : >)

So I sold my complete axles and susopension yesterday.  The rig is sitting on jacks in the garage now.  Plans are to put 80 series axles under it with three link front and four link rear, 2.0 fox air shocks on all four corners.  Axles will be stock 4:10 ratio with full spool front and rear.  Eventually I will get longfields for the front.  I also just ordered an MC07 XD Rotated adaptor.  I want to run that since I will have the front high pinion diff.   Currently I have an INCHWORM DUAL CASE ADAPTOR in the truck.  Never had a problem with it, ITS A 23 SPLINE UNIT AND I WILL BE SELLING IT AS SOON AS I GET IT OUT OF MY RIG..... ASKING 250.00 SHIPPED!  here is a link to the one i have http://www.inchwormgear.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_89_92&products_id=28
I'm also planning on doving the front and rear of the runner.  I have lots of work ahead of me, but I'm gonna take my time and do the best job I can.

in a little while will post some pics of how it sits now.  The rig was sitting at 24 3/4" to the frame on leaf springs with the 40's at 15 psi.  I want to lower it down at least an inch when I do the link setup.  Where it sits on the jackstands now is about where I want ride height to be.

yeah its pretty hard to get a nice low ride height using leaves.  Thats another reason I am stoked about the link setup. It will be alot easier to adjust ride height and suspension geometry.

been workin on the runner the last few days.  I took out the entire drivetrain, installed the marlin rotated adaptor, and ordered a new clutch. I ordered a stage 2, six puck copper ceramic clutch with throw out bearing and pilot bearing off ebay for a great price.  that should be here this week. Once i get that then I can put the drivetrain back in and build my new flatbelly skidplate.  i also cut the front innerstructure and doved the front 12" overall.  It looks way sick now!  My computer fried about two weeks ago, so its hard for me to upload pics and such, We are hoping to get another computer today, so hopefully more updates are coming!  Oh and I also picked up a drilled and tapped ifs box with a billet flat pitman arm on it for 50 bucks today! :beerchug:
