thanks dude. what are the frame height numbers on your 4runner?  honestly your rig is what inspired me to throw 40's on mine. I love the look of your 4runner, its way sick!  do you rub up in your fenderwells in the area where the battery sits and stuff like that?  I'm thinkin i might have to cut and re-sheetmetal both of those areas on each side to get the clearance i want.  I want my rig to sit as low as possible with leaves.  do you have any different pics you could post of your rig? i would love to see em.  or you could just email them if its easier so yu dont have to resize them.

rockwalker texas ranger! :hahaha:

well i pulled another leaf out of the front spring pack tonight and that set it down two more inches!  Pretty happy with that.  I need to lower the rear about an inch to match it, and i think i will be pretty happy with the overall height.  As it sits now, with my new 40's completely full of air, the frame is only one inch taller than when it had 35's and the original full spring pack!

Yeah i checked out your build yesterday.  So what did you do to convert to top shift?  did you have to buy a conversion kit or is there another way you can do it?  I'm wondering because i'm gonna be installing my 2nd 23 spline case soon and of course it has to be converted to top shift.  I would like to convert it without having to spend money on the kit.   And thanks alot man!

whats the numbers on the frame hieght? my frame hieght with my 38s at 30psi is 25 1/2 and with 7lbs its 24. thats the hieghest part and With minor triming and 2 1/2"s of uptravel in the front and 2 in the rear I stuff to my battery tray but dont hit it and my rear could actually stuff about 4 more inches I just don't like my springs to negative arch
I think i measured 27" to the lowest point last night. Thats with the tires filled up pretty hard. That number should go down a little once i get the back lowered some more to match the front.  Looks like i will end up with about three inches up travel in the front, if i go more i think the steering will hit the frame.
just found this on craigs man. dunno if you fixed the problem yet.

no i didnt fix it yet, i still dont know for sure if i need a new afm.  I feel like i probly do, but i still havnt found anyone with a good running supra that i could try my afm's in yet.  Thats what i really want to do so i know for sure that the ones i have are working.
thats the one i told you about caleb, down the street from me
thats what i figured Dan, looks like the same one

So i took the 3" block out of the back of the runner a few minutes ago. I had already milled an inch off of it about a month ago to lower the rig a little so it actually measured about two.  I hate lift blocks so i want to remove it completely. It sits about an inch low in the back with the block completely removed. I also really dont like the rear shackle angle. Its really slanted, so i am gonna cut the rear shackle mounts off the frame and move them back a couple inches. That should raise the rear enough to match the front, it will give me a better shackle angle and i can completely remove the  :stopit: lift blocks :rockingout:  I think it should all turn out right where i want it!  If it still sits low in the back i can make some longer shackles at work to solve the problem.
Here are a few before pics, I will post more after i get the shackle mounts moved.  Looks like i have alot of trimming to do!

Gotta love 4Runner's on 40's

You have to trim as much as I did to clear those tires in the rear.  I trimmed all of the "flare" out of the rear quarterpanel.

And tub the firewall back to the body mount.

On the trail

At 20psi. I'm at 27.5" frame height.  At 4psi, I'm at 26.5" frame height.  Sounds like we are pretty close in height.

yeah i am also planning on dovetailing and bobbing the rear end.  I wont have to tub it out as far in as you had to go but i will still have to do it.  I dont think i need to tub the firewall either because my front axle is pushed forward three or four inches from stock. It will be close, i might have to trim it a bit, but i wont have to tub it all the way to the body mount.  Are frame heights are pretty close.  once i get this shackle setup the way i want it I will be closer to 25 3/4" at the lowest point with the tires at 30 psi.

Well i got the shackles moved back and i am pretty happy with the results.  I moved the shackle mount back 1 3/4" on the frame, which resulted in 1 3/8" of lift.  The runner sits level with no lift blocks! :rockingout:   Currently the lowest part of my frame sits at 26 1/4" from the floor, and the lowest part of the t-case cross member sits at 24 1/4", to the lowest part of the diffs is 14 1/4".   Those numbers are with the tires full at about 30 psi.  I jumped on the truck for a while to try and get the springs to settle, i'm sure they will settle a little more once i can take it for a drive.  I'm hoping it will settle enough to put the bottom of the framerail below 26".  I would be really happy with that!   on to the pics

yeah the welder is workin great!   i dont think i will have firewall issues but i do need to trim the front up by the grill.  I'm planning on cutting right at the top of that blue tape line.

I need to stop by chimney tomorrow and see if he has any bumpstops in stock. I'm gonna set em up so it stops the up travel right before the steering wants to hit the bottom of the frame.  I suppose i will be pullin my t-case out this weekend to start on duals, you can come over and help out with that sickness!  I'm sure if you dont, Tim will be all stoked for it
