Soon, I will be taking the ASVAB. Does anyone here know of any resources I should enlist to help me do better? I actually have 3 books from Barnes & Noble that should help out. I just want to do the best I can. Thanks!

I took that over 20 years ago before I was in. Here ya go. http://www.military.com/ASVAB

That's where I was going to send him too. I think the most important thing is to refresh (study) what you already have. Trying to go beyond what you already know may overload you and be useless during the test.

yep, it goes over the knowledge you learned in high school as well as mechanical and electrical knowledge. what field do you want to go into?

IIRC, You still need to do some time with a Dept. till you're officially a FF1.

rct, yes and no... but i  know what you are saying. i know about the year of volunteer service, or 6 months ofp aid service. i am going to skip that stage and go into the air force. they are actually their own accredited college as well, and i will have an assosiates degree through the air force afterwards. the 4 years of military service will circumvent and more than satisfy the 6 month paid/year internship. also once out, military service as a firefighter with specialized training of airport fires will drastically assist in obtaining a civilian job

Given the rubbish economy, though, I'd strongly suggest getting a degree in most anything and THEN going in.  that GI bill and other goodies may actually not be there by the time Obama gets done with the budget.  And an AA degree at the end won't help much either back in civilian life.

Now - the Ari Force *is* a great career, make no mistake.  Just get the degree first before you have kids and a house and all the other stuff that makes it darn near impossible to go back and finish.
