1983bamayota

toyota all the way. don't waste your time with anything else then a toyota. i had a mazda before my toyota, and the mazda wouldn't come close to a toyota.

Is this thread for real   Its borderline spam.

should i get the datsun to even sell for more than wat i will have to pay

boggerunner

be different, keep the dastsun and stuff toyota drive train into it! just find a wrecked solid axle yota

88_Pathy

An 87 is a Nissan hardbody. If your not going to wheel hard they are one of the toughest trucks out. They take a lot of abuse and have better power than a toyota 22re and if it has a v6 they are great too.

beach

wat would be the better thing to do because im only paying $500 for the truck, do you think i could pull more out of it than i would be paying

88_Pathy

Why not build a Toy based crawler like previously mentioned?

Cheesemaker

I miss my 85 nissan.  But there was no aftermarket stuff for the early years, unless you are really good with melting metal!  I love my toyota even more than my nissan!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

4THEWKN~9/17/2006  If it wasn't for you, I'd be driving something other than a Toyota!

Datsun was only the name used by nissan in the US and was completely dropped from the line by 84 I believe.  I had pretty close to the same truck cheesemaker had, an 84 nissan king cab 4by, and it was reliable but totally gutless, not to mention the frame sat quite low and the transfer case would get caught up on coke cans!

An 87 was a totally different ride. They had decent power and a flat belly from the factory. I owned an 88 pathfinder and they are very similar.

Just run it, fix the clutch and build what you have. I've never understood swapping out parts for Toyota, if that's what you are going to do then just buy a Toyota and be done with it. I remember when Samurai's became all the rage, they built them as far as they could and then swapped everything for Toyota axles, stretched them to the same wb as a Toyota, etc, etc, so why didn't you but a Toyota in the 1st place.

I worked for a Nission dealer from 82-84. there are not toyotas. they have some good points in 2wd.
the tbi 4cls run nice butt I'd just get a yota and don't waste time.  :twocents:
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

82 HiLux

get a freakin toyota. nuff said :beerchug:
82 hilux, bobbed, really fast 22r, 2 transfer cases, ARB's, 5.29's, 37" MTR's. Custom everything.

Just go with a Toyota right from the start. You won't enjoy the parts for the Nismo nearly as much as for a Toyota.  There are some  parts available for Nissans like from Calmini, but not nearly as good a selection as for a Toyota. I have been down this road before myself, I owned a Mazda because it was the "cheap" alternative and the parts I could find were Not at all  cheap. If I had just bought a Yota from the start I would have been much more satisfied in the long run.
By the time I get the money for an SAS I'll be 65 at this rate!

Personally, I'd build a nissan just for the simple fact that people will either say it's pointless or stupid.

I know the 87s are different, but I've driven them back to back with toyota trucks, and despite the toyota's clutch slipping, it still owned the nissan power-wise.

I'd just get a yota instead of messing around.  There is an abundance of affordable parts, especially compared to nissan.
1989 Toyota

madhunt

once you loose the body and throw 1 tons under it, and put 100 or so  feet of tubbing on it, and a small block chevy or ford motor in it,  no one will know what it is anyway.

by the way i had a 83 nissan with the z24 lowerd 2 or so inches and i used to have fun showin up to partys in the mountains aroud here in my lowerd p/u when everybody else was in thier 4x4's. best way to learn how to wheel.
