cb radio help...
« on: Dec 16, 2008, 04:40:27 PM »
i just bought a cobra 29 ltd classic cb used off ebay. it shows up in great condition, i wired it to the battery and ran the antenna. so heres the problem, the cb turns on but i get no sound. im pretty sure it has an internal speaker, it was manufactured in 2004 so i would assume so. any help would be appreciated.

is your mic hooked up?
that will cause no sound.

On some 4 pins you can still hear the radio with microphone.  Stick an external speaker in the Ext. Spkr jack hole, on the radio set, and see if you get sound.  This would eliminate a speaker issue.  Is the squelch all the way down ?,  find someone elses mic and plug it in.  If this fails, email the pregnant dog, so he can tell you "it was working when I sent it".

i will try that, and no the squelch is not all the way down. i have tried messing with it while the cb is on to see if that makes a difference.

29LTD has a RF gain,  turn it up and the squelch down

also  try another mic

try a external speaker,  (most truckers have "talk back" installed which disables the internal speaker)
