Sorry Guys you asked the ?

I just put up a site where mormonism is debated by both Christians & Mormons.

For the record I come from a long, long line of Mormons on both sides of the family tree. I'm a Christian now. No offense intended by the site it is just a good place I have found to read some of the debates.

If you want to know about Mormons ask the Mormons.  Don't ask someone who is trying to defame them...

I believe that the average mormon is an honest good person, but I believe there is more going on behind the scenes than they realize.

I still find it funny when Mormons are not considered Christian.  Jesus Christ and his atonement for our sins has been and always will be one of the center points of our religion.  How can you be more christian than that?  :dunno:

I don't care what religion you are we are all in the same war against the same adversary and should be allies.  How Christlike is it to attack fellow christians over christianity?  It makes no sense.

Although I do not agree with some of the stuff Mormons believe, both Mormons and I believe similar things so they are ok in my book. I consider them Christians, just a different type than I am. I personally have no problems with them, and I do occasianally hang out with Mormons. Its just like hanging out with other kids except you don't get in trouble when hanging out with Mormons lol. Now I do have classes with some very narrow minded people who absolutely hate Mormons for what seems like no reason at all. This I just do not understand. Why hate a group of people just becasue they are not the exact same as you. Also, the missionaries have quit coming to my house ever since I was about 13 or so. Not sure why. The Jehovas (sp) Witnesses still stop by occasionally, but not the Mormons. :dunno:

I never considered them not to be christians, never heard that before now, but they do seem to be percieved as the red headed step child of christianity.

"red headed step child"?  That's hilarious - never thought of it quite that way.

I always thought of it more like "the new kid on the block"...

Oh.   I have one more thing to ad.   I was a little ticked off when a good friend that I grew up with and hung around with as teens was not allowed to invite me or any of his other friends or family to his wedding because none of us were allowed in the church that his mormon wife belonged to.  Then at the reception we had to crash another party to get

Its Ironic because his dad worked for Anheuser Busch(a very well paying job) and was in the process of getting his son on at the time.  Because it was in the beer industry his wife to be and her family didn't approve.   He's been a struggling to get by substitute gym teacher ever since.  Its all water under the bridge now because I'm not easily offended but still.........bro's before ho's.

I think alot of non mormons in Utah bash on the church because they have HUGE influence on the politics in Utah. Such as our bizzar liquor laws. Sometimes people might feel like that influence isn't always in the best interest of everybody. There have been issues that I dont agree with. Im not bashing the church. But I think the politicians should do whats best for all of the people.

I always thought it was weird that Mormons couldn't drink caffiene until the mormon church bought a soda company.

Explain this temple purification thing with the snakes to me again??

Every mormon I have known have been nice enough people, it's just that the religion is a bit kooky to me.  :screwy:

Only 100,000 people in heaven ever

I remember something absurd about dinosaurs (conversation with a mormon in highschool)

Didn't joseph smith have a very questionable past?

tell ya what, I'm going to tell you all i talked to god, write a book about it, not let you see these gold tablets (or whatever was handed to me) and then have you all send me your money.  :gap:

Nothing specific ever in the doctrine about not drinking caffeine

No ordinance that is performed in the Temple uses snakes of any kind

As many people who live lives according to the commandments and church doctrine will go to the celestial kingdom, no idea where you got the 100,000 from

What is questionable about his past? He was a boy when he read the passage in James and asked of God which church was true...

I am not saying I am right or wrong in this thread, it is purely to set things straight about what we believe and what we dont. You know it is possible it is all made up, but then again you cant prove otherwise either. I love the life i live and i am very proud of my religion and so are the other 12 million Latter Day Saints. Once again to each his own, I have faith and believe in this. In my opinion if anyone read the Book of Mormon, asked God in sincere prayer if it is true, they would know it also.

You are correct.   Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only 144,000 people will go to heaven to rule with God and Jesus. The remainder of the righteous will enjoy paradise on earth - a restored Garden of Eden in which there is no sickness, old age, death or unhappiness.

My paradise on earth is lots of , :boobs: and  :driving:

A good Mormon story...

My boss, like a lot of my management is a Mormon.  I also have a clueless moron (word chosen to add confusion) coworker that made an absolute fool himself talking about Mormons in front of the boss.  Keep in mind that the moron sat in a cube for several years where his view was of the Mormon's cube and somehow missed, over a multiple year timeframe, that he was Mormon.  On day I get caught with my section lead, the Mormon boss and the moron in a "water cooler" conversation where the moron goes off on Mormons and even gets to some belief about a great giant lizard (I have no idea where this came from).  Needless to say it was entertaining to listen to but also uncomfortable since everyone in the conversation but the moron new the boss was Mormon.  I figured that I should have some fun afterwords so I put a note on morons computer that simply that that the boss was LDS.  Another coworker that just overheard the conversation heard the moron apologizing the next day saying that God had told him that the boss was Mormon.

LOL.  That is an awesome story.  I was laughing so hard when I read that.  So among all the names you've been called you are now a god.  WOW.  Its amazing how some people are so dense and how inconsiderate they can be sometimes.  Again very funny story.
